Shimmy Disc is a New York City-based independent record label founded in 1987 by Mark Kramer. Before it was sold to the Knitting Factory, artists like Bongwater, Daniel Johnston, Fly Ashtray, Galaxie 500, King Missile, Boredoms, Ruins, Ween, Gwar, The Semibeings, When People Were Shorter and Lived Near the Water and Uncle Wiggly recorded on the label. The label also released compilations albums such as "Rutles Highway Revisited ", 1990, which featured various artists from the label, and also introduced new artists like Paleface.
Shockabilly was a band which included Eugene Chadbourne on guitar and vocals, Mark Kramer on bass guitar and organ, and David Licht on drums. Shockabilly released a number of albums during their brief existence (1982–1985); most were re-released. The music itself is mostly avant-garde reworkings of rockabilly and rock and roll standards.
Fundamental is the ninth studio album by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. It was released in May 2006 in the United Kingdom, Europe, Japan and Canada. It was released in late June 2006 in the United States. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at number five on 28 May 2006. In the US the album peaked at number 150 selling 7,500 copies in its first week. As of April 2009 it had sold 46,000 copies in the US and 66,000 copies in the UK. Fundamental earned two Grammy nominations at the 2007 Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording with "I'm with Stupid".
Vietnam/Heaven is a compilation album by the band Shockabilly, one of the many projects of influential and prolific guitarist Eugene Chadbourne. The album is a combination of two previously unavailable LPs, and was extremely well received by critics. These recordings feature many sonic techniques that were later duplicated by bands such as Primus and Sonic Youth.
"Fortunate Son" is a song by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival released on their fourth studio album, Willy and the Poor Boys in November 1969. It was previously released as a single, together with "Down on the Corner", in September 1969. It soon became an anti-war movement anthem, an expressive symbol of the counterculture's opposition to U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War and solidarity with the soldiers fighting it. The song has been featured extensively in pop culture depictions of the Vietnam War and the anti-war movement.
"Born in the U.S.A." is a song written and performed by Bruce Springsteen, and released in 1984 on the album of the same name. One of Springsteen's best-known singles, it was ranked 275th on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and in 2001, the RIAA's Songs of the Century placed the song 59th. The song addresses the economic hardships of Vietnam veterans upon their return home, juxtaposed ironically against patriotic glorification of the nation's fighting forces.

Paul Francis Gadd, known professionally as Gary Glitter, is an English former glam rock singer who achieved success in the 1970s and 1980s, known for his extreme glam image of glitter suits, make-up and platform boots, and his energetic live performances. He sold over 20 million records, had 26 hit singles which spent a total of 180 weeks in the UK Singles Chart; twelve reaching the Top 10, with three charting at number-one. He is listed in the Top 100 UK most successful chart acts. He was imprisoned for downloading child pornography in 1999, and child sexual abuse and attempted rape in 2006 and 2015. In 2015 Glitter was described by Alexis Petridis of The Guardian as a "public hate figure". His performances on the BBC's Top of the Pops are not repeated.
Box of Bongwater is a career-spanning four-disc box-set of the band Bongwater, released on October 20, 1998 through Shimmy Disc. It contains almost all of the band's recorded output, including four studio albums, an EP, a single, and an edit of a compilation track. The tracks were completely remastered by Alan Douches and Kramer for their inclusion in the set.
