Vijay Kumar Arya alias Dilip alias Jaspal [1] is an Indian Maoist ideologue and Central Committee member of Communist Party of India (Maoist)

Career

Arya belongs to Karma village under Konch area in Gaya district. [2] His father name is Ram Jatan Yadav. [3] He is a postgraduate in economics from Magadh University. Initially he was a political worker with close affinity to Lalu Prasad Yadav [4] thereafter attracted to left wing extremism. Arya had also worked as a temporary lecturer before he joined in the active politics. He joined in Maoist Communist Centre of India (MCCI) and led armed conflicts with Ranvir Sena. After the death of MCCI supremo Sagar Chatterjee in an encounter, the police raided the village and destroyed Arya's shanty. Thereafter Arya went underground. [5] After the formation of CPI (Maoist) in 2004 he joined the party and became active in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and undivided Andhra Pradesh to spread Maoist ideologies. Arya was known as Jaspalji alias Amar and was chairman of the Party's all-India subcommittee of mass organisation (Sucomo). [6] [7] He was arrested on 1 May 2011 along with two other Central Committee Member of CPI (Maoist) Jhantu Mukherjee and Varanasi Subramanyam from a village under Barsoi block in Katihar district by the Special Task Force and Bihar Police team and was lodged in Central jail of Gaya. [8] Total 12 criminal cases are pending against him in Bihar and he carried Rs 3 lakh award on his head. [9] At present Arya is in Special Central Jail in Bhagalpur. [6]

The Communist Party of India (Maoist) is a Marxist–Leninist–Maoist banned communist political party and militant organization in India which aims to overthrow the "semi-colonial and semi-feudal Indian state" through protracted people's war. The Ranvir Sena is a militia functioning as a landlord group, mainly based in the state of Bihar, India. The group was formed by Bhumihar landlords in 1994, with the aim to counter the influence of various left-wing militants, Naxalite groups and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI-ML) in central Bihar. The Ranvir Sena has been connected to a number of massacres including the massacre at Laxmanpur Bathe. It has, on several occasions, been accused of human rights abuses. The Bihar state government banned the Ranvir Sena in July 1995, but the group continue to remain active. The group has frequently publicly claimed responsibility for its crimes with impunity.

The Naxalite–Maoist insurgency is an ongoing conflict between Maoist groups known as Naxalites or Naxals and the Indian government. The influence zone of the Naxalites is called the red corridor, which has been steadily declining in terms of geographical coverage and number of violent incidents, and in 2021 it was confined to the 25 "most affected" locations, accounting for 85% of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) violence, and 70 "total affected" districts across 10 states in two coal-rich, remote, forested hilly clusters in and around the Dandakaranya-Chhattisgarh-Odisha region and the tri-junction area of Jharkhand-Bihar and-West Bengal. The Naxalites have frequently targeted police and government workers in what they say is a fight for improved land rights and more jobs for neglected agricultural labourers and the poor.

Prashant Bose, commonly known by his nom de guerre Kishan or Kishan da is a senior Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). He has previously used Nirbhay Mukherjee, Kajal, Kishan-da and Mahesh as aliases. Kishan, the former MCCI chief is now No. 2 in the CPI (Maoist). He is in charge of Bihar and Jharkhand and heading the Party's Eastern Regional Bureau. And this Bengali Maoist leader, 74 in age is also a known intellectual of the party. He joined in Naxalite movements as a trade union activist in 1967 and continued to play a key role in Left-wing politics in India.

The Central Organising Committee, Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Party Unity, more commonly known as CPI(ML) Party Unity or simply 'Party Unity', was a communist party in India 1982-1998. Narayan Sanyal alias Naveen Prasad was the general secretary of the party. Party Unity was the official organ of the party. CPI(ML) Party Unity was one of the predecessors of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Bara massacre was a caste based carnage that took place in 1992 in Bihar. At midnight on 12–13 February 1992, the Maoist Communist Centre of India killed 40 Bhumihars at Bara Village in Gaya district of Bihar, India. The MCC's armed group brought the 35 men of Bara village to the bank of a nearby canal, tied their hands and slit their throats. As many as 36 people were accused of the crime, but charges were framed against only 13. The police failed to arrest the others, who had defied their summons.

Mahagathbandhan also known as Grand Alliance, is a coalition of political parties in the Eastern state of Bihar in India, formed ahead of the 2015 Vidhan Sabha elections in Bihar. The alliance consists of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Indian National Congress (INC) and Left parties including Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation-CPIML (Liberation) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), with Tejashwi Yadav as the chairperson.

Narayan Sanyal commonly known as Bijoy da and Naveen Prasad was a Maoist ideologue and a Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). He was one of the earliest comrade of Naxal leader Charu Majumdar and member of undivided Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist). It is claimed that at the time of arrest Narayan Sanyal was next only to CPI (Maoist) the then general secretary Muppala Lakshmana Rao alias Ganapathy.
