Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bangalore.
K.S. Sowmya, better known by her stage name Soundarya, was an Indian actress known for her works primarily in Telugu cinema in addition to Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam films. She has received three Nandi Awards, two Karnataka State Film Awards and six Filmfare Awards South. In 2002, she received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film as a producer for the Kannada film Dweepa.
Kushka is a 2020 Indian Kannada-language drama film, directed and edited by Vikram Yoganand, produced by Prathap Reddy, Madhu Gowda and Kailash Pal under the banner of Smart Screen Productions and PM Productions. The film follows Heegondhu Dina (2018) and features writer and actor Guruprasad, along with Kailash Pal and Sanjana Anand. The director Yoganand is also credited as cinematographer. The songs are composed by Abhilash Gupta.

Sindhu, known by her stage name Sindhu Loknath, is an Indian actress and model who predominantly appears in Kannada cinema. She made her debut in films, with a cameo role in Parichaya (2009). She is recognized for her performances in Lifeu Ishtene (2011), Drama (2012), Case No. 18/9 (2013) and Love in Mandya (2014).
Thayavva is a 1997 Kannada-language film directed by V. Umakanth, starring Sudeep, Umashree, Charan Raj and Sindhu. The background score and soundtrack were composed by V. Manohar, with lyrics by V. Manohar and Geethapriya. This was Sudeep's first film to release after his two previous films were abandoned midway. The film was a box office failure.
Chaitrada Premanjali is a 1992 Indian Kannada-language romance drama film directed and written by S. Narayan making his debut in direction. The film stars newcomers Raghuveer and Shwetha along with Lokesh and Abhijeeth in other pivotal roles. The film met with positive reviews upon release from critics and audience eventually becoming the musical hit of the year.
Miley Somehow is a 2013 independent Hindi romantic comedy film directed and co-written by Vikram Yoganand and shot in and around Bangalore by a crew of young Bangalorean filmmakers.
Shraddha Rama Srinath is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films. She debuted with the Malayalam film Kohinoor and gained wide acclaim for her role in the Kannada psychological thriller U Turn (2016) for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and also for her performances in Jersey, Urvi, Vikram Vedha, Nerkonda Paarvai and Operation Alamelamma. For the latter, she won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – South award. She won the Zee Cine Awards Telugu for Best Find of the Year - Female in 2020 for her role in Jersey.
Heegondhu Dina is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language film starring Sindhu Loknath. The director, editor and cinematographer is Vikram Yoganand. The film is produced by Chandrashekar under Smart Screen Productions banner. The songs and background music are scored by Abhilash Gupta.
Johnny Johnny Yes Papa is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language action film directed and written by Preetham Gubbi. The film is made under the Duniya Talkies banner owned by actor Duniya Vijay who also plays the lead role. The film is a sequel to their previous venture Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam (2011). The rest of the principal cast include Rachita Ram, Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila. The film's soundtrack is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.
Shobaraj is an Indian actor in the Kannada film industry. Some of his notable films include Yajamana (2000), Shabdavedhi (2000), Police Story (1996), and Sangliyana Part-3 (1997).
Sarvabhouma is a 2004 Indian Kannada language drama film starring Shiva Rajkumar, Mayuri, Shilpa Anand, Sharath Lohitashwa, Rangayana Raghu and Vikram Ravichandran. It is directed by Mahesh Sukhadhare and music by Hamsalekha. Shivaraj Kumar played the double role, including the lead role.

Kaanadante Maayavadanu is a 2020 romantic fantasy Kannada film directed by debutante Raj Pathipati and produced by Back Benchers Motion Picture. The film gets it title from the opening lines of the song "Kaanadante Maayavadanu" "Namma Shiva kailasa serikondanu" from the movie Chalisuva Modagalu. The film stars Vikas and Sindhu Lokanath.
Nagabhushana N S, also known as Nagabhushana, is an Indian film actor, who has worked predominantly in Kannada movie industry. Nagabhushana made his debut with the Kannada film Sankashta Kara Ganapathi.
Honeymoon is an Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy series created and produced by Sakkath Studios and it premiered on Voot. Series is first venture of Shiva Rajkumar's production house Shree Muthu Cine Services. Actor Nagabhushana co-wrote the series and features in the lead in the series with Sanjana Anand. The series tells the story of a newly-wed couple, on their honeymoon in Kerala. Series completed in 2019 and released the Telugu dubbed in version in aha while Original Kannada version released on Voot Select on 20 May 2022.
House Full is a 2009 Indian Kannada-language film directed by Hemanth Hegde, starring Diganth, Vishakha Singh, Hemanth Hegde and Girija Oak in lead roles.
Prema Prema Prema is a 1999 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by S. Siddalingaiah and starring Suresh Raj, Sindhu Menon and Ramya. The film is based on the novel Talemaaru by Ramdas. After this film, Siddalingaiah took a break from direction and it became his final film as director.
Jai Bajarangabali is a 2014 Indian Kannada-language action drama film directed by Ravivarma Gubbi and starring Ajai Rao and Sindhu Loknath.
