Villa Beach (Playa de Villa de Arevalo), also locally known as Villa Baybay, is an urban long gray sand beach located in the district of Villa de Arevalo on the southern coast of Iloilo City, Philippines.

Villa Beach is home to several popular local restaurants, including Tatoy's and Breakthrough Restaurant, known for serving seafood. [1] The beach also home to many resorts. [2]

Paraw Regatta Festival

The Paraw Regatta Festival is an event held annually at Villa Beach, typically during February. This festival features a race among local seafarers on colorful sailboats called paraw, which navigate the straits between Guimaras Island and the City of Iloilo. [3] [4]

The Hiligaynon people, often referred to as Ilonggo people or Panayan people, are the second largest subgroup of the larger Visayan ethnic group, whose primary language is Hiligaynon, an Austronesian language of the Visayan branch native to Panay, Guimaras, and Negros. They originated in the province of Iloilo, on the island of Panay, in the region of Western Visayas. Over the years, inter-migrations and intra-migrations have contributed to the diaspora of the Hiligaynon to different parts of the Philippines. Today, the Hiligaynon, apart from the province of Iloilo, also form the majority in the provinces of Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Capiz, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and North Cotabato.

The Paraw Regatta Festival or Iloilo–Guimaras Paraw Regatta Festival is an annual festival held every third weekend of February in the Arevalo, Iloilo City, Philippines. Its main event is a sailboat race in Iloilo Strait that features the paraw, a Visayan double-outrigger sail boat. It is the oldest traditional craft event in Asia, and the largest sailing event in the Philippines. It is one of Iloilo City's tourism events along with the Dinagyang Festival, Kasadyahan Festival, Chinese New Year festival and La Candelaria Fiesta. The Iloilo Paraw Regatta began as a half-day sailboat race but is now a multi-day, multi-event festival.

Injap Tower Hotel is a 21-storey residential building and hotel located in Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue, Mandurriao, Iloilo City in front of SM City Iloilo. Since its completion in 2013, it has been the tallest building in Iloilo City until 2018, when it was dethroned by the nearby 18-storey high-rise twin tower, SM Strata Tower, which is just 9 meters taller. Injap Tower was also the tallest building in the Western Visayas region for the same years. It is the region's tallest hotel, and currently the fourth tallest building in Iloilo.

The Governor of Iloilo is the local chief executive of the Philippine province of Iloilo. The governor holds office at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol located at Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City. In case of death, resignation or incapacity, the vice governor becomes the governor.
