Virgibacillus alimentarius is a bacterium first isolated from a traditional Korean food, hence its name. It is Gram-positive, rod-shaped, motile, endospore-forming and halophilic, with J18T (=KACC 14624T =JCM 16994T) as the type strain. [1]

Bacillus is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria, a member of the phylum Firmicutes, with 266 named species. Oceanobacillus kimchii is a bacterium, named after kimchi, where the first isolate was found. Its cells are rod-shaped and the type strain is X50T. Oceanobacillus kimchii is also found in the marine sponges.

Virgibacillus siamensis is a bacterium. It is Gram-positive, rod-shaped and moderately halophilic, originally isolated from fermented fish in Thailand. MS3-4T is the type strain.

Virgibacillus is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped (bacillus) bacteria and a member of the phylum Firmicutes. Virgibacillus species can be obligate aerobes, or facultative anaerobes and catalase enzyme positive. Under stressful environmental conditions, the bacteria can produce oval or ellipsoidal endospores in terminal, or sometimes subterminal, swollen sporangia. The genus was recently reclassified from the genus Bacillus in 1998 following an analysis of the species V. pantothenticus. Subsequently, a number of new species have been discovered or reclassified as Virgibacillus species.

Virgibacillus soli is a species of Gram-positive bacteria. A strain of this species was originally isolated from soil on a mountain in Taiwan. It is closely related to the species Virgibacillus halophilus and Virgibacillus kekensis.

Virgibacillus salexigens is a species of Gram-positive bacteria. This species was formerly contained by the genus Salibacillus and before that by Bacillus. Strains of this species were originally isolated from salterns and saline soil samples in Spain. They are spore-forming, slightly aerobic, and moderately halophilic.

Methylobacterium jeotgali is a Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, motile and rod-shaped bacteria from the genus of Methylobacterium which has been isolated from fermented seafood jeotgal in Korea.

Aquibacillus albus is a Gram-positive, strictly anaerobic and moderately halophilic bacterium from the genus of Aquibacillus which has been isolated from the Lop Nur lake from Xinjiang in China.
