Vivieno Caldinelli is a Canadian film and television director from Hamilton, Ontario. [1] He is most noted for his work as a director of Baroness von Sketch Show , for which he won both the Directors Guild of Canada award for Outstanding Direction in a Comedy Series [2] and the Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series. [3]

His debut feature film, Seven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss , was released in 2018. [4] He followed up in 2024 with Scared Shitless , [5] which was second runner-up for the Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature at the 28th Fantasia International Film Festival. [6]

He was formerly a partner with Mark Montefiore in Polenta Productions. [1] His other television credits have included Picnicface , [7] This Hour Has 22 Minutes , [8] Hotbox , [9] HumanTown [10] and Bruno & Boots . [11]

He was also a performer in Hotbox, a sketch comedy series. [9]

<i>Hotbox</i> (TV series) Canadian comedy television show

Hotbox was a Canadian absurdist sketch comedy television show on The Comedy Network. It starred Pat Thornton, Sandy Jobin-Bevans, Levi MacDougall, Jeff McEnery, Vivieno Caldinelli and Tal Zimerman, and was a spinoff of the online sitcom The Owl and the Man. Some notable guest appearances on the show included comics Jon Dore, Colin Mochrie and Seán Cullen. The title "Hot Box" relates to the show's frame story, which starts in each episode's opening sequence, which depicts a box which falls from space, and is discovered by scientists. Throughout the episode, the scientists then perform disastrous experiments involving the box, which contains screens displaying the show's sketches. These sketches include cartoons, commercial parodies, puppets, and fake movie trailers.

Kidnapping Inc. is a 2024 crime comedy thriller film co-written and directed by Bruno Mourral in his directorial debut. A coproduction between Haiti, Canada and France, the film stars Jasmuel Andri and Rolaphton Mercure as Doc and Zoe, two low-level gangsters in Haiti who are assigned the task of transporting the kidnapped son of presidential candidate Benjamin Perralt to their boss's headquarters, only for the plan to go awry when they accidentally kill the victim, and must set out to abduct lookalike Patrick to cover their tracks.

Scared Shitless is a Canadian comedy horror film, directed by Vivieno Caldinelli and released in 2024. The film stars Steven Ogg as Don, a plumber who must team up with his mysophobic son Sonny to battle a genetically engineered bloodthirsty monster that is loose in the plumbing system of an apartment building.
