Vizag Warriors was a franchise cricket team based in the city of Vizag, that represented Visakhapatnam and nearby districts of Andhra Pradesh in the Andhra Premier League (APL). [4]

The Vizag Warriors home ground is Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Vizag Warriors is owned by Pulsus Group, a group company of Gedela Srinubabu. The team's logo features a marine blue color, which represents the agility, strength, and dynamism of the team. The current captain of the Vizag Warriors team is Ashwin Hebbar, an  Indian Premier League player. The team is coached by Vincent Vinay. [5]

History

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is the governing body for cricket in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in the year 1953 and is affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI). The ACA is responsible for organizing and managing cricket tournaments and events within the state of Andhra Pradesh. [6]

Star Sports (Indian TV network) channels including Star Sports 2, Star 2 HD and Star Telugu are Broadcasting the Andhra Premier League and Fancode app would be the OTT platform. [7]

Team identity

The team logo featured in blue. The team song is called "mana warriors chasing to win" (The Game is ours, in Telugu).

Vizag Warriors IPL team

Ram Charan, an Indian actor, producer, and entrepreneur, has shown interest in making the Vizag Warriors an Indian Premier League team in 2024 to represent the Andhra Pradesh and Telugu people in the IPL. [8] [9] [10]

Andhra Premier League Second Season and Vizag Warriors Logo Launch

Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, launched the Andhra Premier League and unveiled the new logo of the Vizag Warriors team at a grand event in Vizag. The APL is a T20 cricket (T20) league in Andhra Pradesh that aims to provide a platform for talented local cricketers to showcase their skills and compete at a professional level. The league is a great opportunity for players to gain recognition and attract the attention of selectors for national-level and international-level teams. [24] [25]

The league's first season was a resounding success in 2022, and the second season promises to be even better. The Vizag Warriors are one of the most promising teams in the league. The team has a good mix of experienced players and young talent, and they are determined to put up a good fight in the upcoming season. [26]

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is also a cricket enthusiast, showed his support for the league and the Vizag Warriors team at the launch event. He praised the efforts of the league organizers in promoting cricket in the state and providing a platform for local talent. The APL is not just about cricket; it is also a great opportunity for businesses to promote their brands and reach out to a wider audience. The league has already attracted sponsors, including some of the biggest names in the state. [27] [28]
