Vy Tåg AB is a Swedish railway company that operates franchises in different parts of Sweden. The company was founded in 1999 by three former railway employees in Statens Järnvägar and the investment company Småföretagsinvest/Fylkinvest. [1] In 2005 Norwegian State Railways (now Vy) purchased 34% of Svenska Tågkompaniet, and later on October 31, 2006 increased its ownership stake to 85%. [2] [3] [4] In 2007 NSB purchased the rest of the company.
Previously known as Tågkompaniet or Svenska Tågkompaniet AB (The Swedish Train Company), the company rebranded to Vy Tåg in 2019.
In December 2020, Vy Tåg assumed operation of passenger services in Värmland, Sweden under a nine-year contract with Värmlandstrafik. [5] In December 2020, Vy Tåg also assumed operation of the Swedish Transport Administration state-supported overnight sleeper trains between Stockholm and Norrland, for a period of four years.

Transport in Sweden is available for all four main modes of transport—air, bus, ferry and rail—assisting residents and visitors without their own vehicle to travel around much of Sweden's 450,295 square kilometres (173,860 sq mi).
SJ is a state-owned passenger train operator in Sweden. SJ was created in 2001, out of the public transport division of Statens Järnvägar, when the former government agency was divided into six separate state-owned limited companies. In 2018, SJ carried 31.8 million passengers.
Vygruppen, branded as Vy, formerly the Norwegian State Railways, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy.
The Bothnia Line is a high-speed railway line in northern Sweden. The 190 km (118 mi) long route, from Höga Kusten Airport, where it connects to the Ådalen Line, via Örnsköldsvik to Umeå, was opened in 2010 and trains are allowed to travel at speeds up to 250 km/h (155 mph). Although, no train with a higher top speed than 200 km/h (125 mph) uses the railway as of 2023.

Stockholm Central Station is a railway station in Stockholm, Sweden. It is situated in the district of Norrmalm at Vasagatan/Central Plan. The station opened on 18 July 1871 and it had over 200,000 visitors daily, of which about 170,000 were travellers, until 10 July 2017 when the local commuter trains started to call at the Stockholm City Station which is located under the central station.
The Iron Ore Line is a 398-kilometre (247 mi) long railway line between Riksgränsen and Boden in Norrbotten County, Sweden, owned by Trafikverket. The line also contains two branches, from Kiruna to Svappavaara and from Gällivare to Koskullskulle. The term is often colloquially used to also include the Ofoten Line, from Riksgränsen to Narvik in Norway, and the northernmost part of the Main Line Through Upper Norrland from Boden to Luleå. The railway from Narvik to Luleå is 473 kilometres (294 mi) long.
Transwede Airways AB, was a Swedish charter and later also scheduled airline operating between 1985 and 1998. Based at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Transwede initially flew Sud Aviation Caravelles, and from 1987 also McDonnell Douglas MD-80s. Most charter services were operated for package tour companies to the Mediterranean.
Mittnabotåget was a regional train service connecting Trondheim in Norway with Sundsvall in Sweden. It includes trains operated by Veolia Transport on the Mittlinjen between Sundsvall and Östersund in Sweden, and Norges Statsbaner’s cross-border Nabotåget services from Östersund on to Trondheim in Norway.
The Swedish Short Course Swimming Championships are annually in late November in an indoor 25m pool. The championships sometimes also works as trials for the World Championships and European Short Course Swimming Championships. Swimmers representing Swedish swim teams may participate. Non-Swedish swimmers who have participated include Anthony Ervin and Attila Czene.
Storlien Station is a railway station located at Storlien in Åre Municipality, Sweden. Located 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) east of the Norway–Sweden border, it serves as changeover station between the Norwegian Meråker Line and the Swedish Central Line. The altitude is 592 metres (1,942 ft), the highest located station in Sweden. The station is 105.97 kilometres (65.85 mi) from Trondheim, 358 kilometres (222 mi) from Sundsvall and 748.1 kilometres (464.8 mi) from Stockholm. The station and entire line Östersund–Trondheim was inaugurated by the king Oscar II in Storlien 1882. The village of Storlien is primarily a ski resort and border shopping place.
The Regina is a Swedish model of electric multiple unit passenger train, manufactured by Bombardier Transportation. It is used by the national passenger railway SJ along with numerous regional and private operators, in variants designated X50, X51, X52, X53, X54 and X55, and in two-, three-, and four-carriage models. The Regina units are short trains built for local and regional service. The Regina is wider than other Swedish trains; at 3.45 m, it allows five-across seating, increasing passenger capacity by 25%. The car body is built of stainless steel, with only bolsters and coupler pockets made of mild steel. The length is 54 m, 80 m and 105 m, and the capacity 165-294 seats. A variant of the Regina is used in China as the CRH1. Unlike X 2000, Regina trainsets are corrugateless due to eliminate molybdenum content and add titanium instead.
Bombardier Itino is a diesel multiple unit manufactured by Bombardier Transportation, originally developed by Adtranz. It has two or three cars and is capable of 140–160 km/h (90–100 mph). A total of 57 units were manufactured at the former LEW Hennigsdorf factory between 2002 and 2010. It is in service in Germany and Sweden.
The Main Line Through Upper Norrland is a 626-kilometre (389 mi) long railway line between Bräcke, Jämtland County and Boden, Norrbotten County in Sweden. For military and regional policy reasons, it was built in very sparsely populated areas, far away from the more densely populated coast. The line has several branches to settlements on the coast, the ones to Umeå and Luleå being considered part of the line itself. Today the three largest settlements along the line are Boden, Älvsbyn and Vännäs.

Umeå East Station is a railway station in Umeå, Sweden. The station was opened on 7 August 2010, with King Carl XVI Gustaf officially opening the station on 28 August. It was built in connection with the construction of the Bothnia Line (Botniabanan) to Umeå.
The Swedish Cross-Country Skiing Championships were first held in Härnösand in 1910. Only men's competitions were offered initially with the first women's competitions introduced subsequently in 1917.

The company owns passenger trains and organises passenger train operation. Norrtåg controls ticket sales and contracts an operator which handles actual train operation. The trains are operated under the brand name Norrtåg.
