Andrew John "W.I.Z." Whiston (born 4 January 1964) is an English director of films and music videos.
W.I.Z. has directed a number of high-concept videos for major music artists from the United Kingdom and the United States, including Massive Attack, Kasabian, Oasis, and Marilyn Manson. Many of these videos, in addition to featuring the song and the performers, also follow a running narrative, and may contain a political or social message. Once in a band himself, W.I.Z. has also directed concert films of live performances by the bands Suede, Manic Street Preachers and Primal Scream.
He has directed two short films: Weekender and Baby. The 1992 film Weekender follows the band Flowered Up and displays the hedonistic side of club and drug culture; the 13-minute film was screened on Channel 4 in Britain.
W.I.Z.'s second short film Baby made its European debut at the 2000 Edinburgh International film festival and its U.S. debut at the MVPA Director's Cuts 2000 film festival. In February 2003, W.I.Z.'s video for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Whatever Happened to My Rock 'N Roll" was named as MTV2 Europe's "Best Video of the Year 2002" by the NME Carling Awards.
As of 2012 he was signed to the production company My Accomplice. [1] He previously worked with Academy Films, Factory Films and Oil Factory Inc. [2]

Manic Street Preachers, also known simply as the Manics, are a Welsh rock band formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, in 1986. The band consists of cousins James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore, plus Nicky Wire. They form a key part of the 1990s Welsh Cool Cymru cultural movement.
Lipstick Traces (A Secret History of Manic Street Preachers) is a compilation album by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers, and consists of various B-sides, rarities and cover versions. It was released on 14 July 2003 by record label Sony, and reached number 11 on the UK Album Chart.

V Festival, often referred to as V Fest or simply V, is an annual music festival held in the United Kingdom during the third weekend in August. The event was held at two parks simultaneously which shared the same bill; artists performed at one location on Saturday and then swapped on Sunday. The sites were located at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire. In 2017, the final year of this format, the capacity of each site was 90,000.
The Help Album is a 1995 charity album to raise funds for the War Child charity, which provided aid to war-stricken areas, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina. All the songs were recorded in a single day. The album features British and Irish artists including Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, Radiohead, Oasis, Blur and Manic Street Preachers. It was followed by 1 Love (2002), Hope (2003), Help!: A Day in the Life (2005) and War Child Presents Heroes (2009).
The Hultsfred Festival was an annual music festival held in Hultsfred, Sweden. It took place at the lake Hulingen during three days in the June or July, from Thursday to Saturday. Since the first festival in 1986, its attendance had increased from 7,500 visitors to approximately 32,000 people in 2005. With its five different stages, the Hultsfred Festival hosted many bands each year from all over Scandinavia and the world alike.

The Summer Sonic Festival, is an annual music festival held on one weekend in August simultaneously in both Chiba and Osaka, Japan. The festival features one lineup performing one day in Osaka then performing the next day in Chiba and vice-versa. No Boundaries: A Benefit For The Kosovar Refugees is a benefit album released on June 15, 1999, by Epic Records featuring a handful of artists raising money for Kosovars sent by aeroplane to Australia during the Kosovo War. It was released in Australia on June 21, 1999, and has music from Australian band Jebediah and New Zealand singer Bic Runga. Three organizations received $1 million from Epic as well as future revenues from the album. Those organizations Médecins Sans Frontières, OXFAM, and Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere.

"Weekender" is a 1992 single by the band Flowered Up. The band had performed the song as early as 1991. The song has been described as denouncing people who only go to clubs on the weekend and advocating a party-all-the-time philosophy of the group. The group originally wanted it to be released through their current label London Records. The single was turned down by the label and released later in April 1992 by Heavenly Recordings.
