WEXR (106.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting in the Meridian, Mississippi, area. Its transmitter is located on Mississippi Highway 145 south of Meridian. WEXR is part of the Alert FM digital alert and messaging system for Lauderdale County first responders. [1]

In September 2011 WKZB was donated to Meridian Community College. [2]

On September 9, 2011 WKZB changed its callsign to WEXR and changed formats from classic hits to college radio, branded as "The Eagle".

WKZB's original city of license was Meridian, but with the move to 95.1, it was relicensed to Marion, Mississippi. URBan Radio Broadcasting purchased the radio station from Clear Channel in 2007 and then sold it, along with its sister stations, to New South Communications in September 2011.

WOKK is a country music-formatted radio station broadcasting in the Meridian, Mississippi, Arbitron market. Its transmitter is located on Mississippi Highway 145 south of Meridian. From 1970 to 1983, the callsign was WALT and until 1981 was formatted as a top-40 station. The growth of competitor WJDQ "Q-101" prompted WALT to adopt an easy-listening format, much to the chagrin of its listeners. But the format change was short-lived. In 1983 the station swapped with WOKK and adopted the WOKK country format. Since the swap, WOKK 97.1 has been one of the most listened-to stations in the area.
