Australian Idol is an Australian singing competition, which began its first season in July 2003 and ended its initial run in November 2009. As part of the Idol franchise, Australian Idol originated from the reality program Pop Idol, which was created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller. Australian Idol was televised on Network Ten for its first seven series and was broadcast on the Southern Cross Austereo Radio Network between 2005 and 2007. The series returned in 2023 after Seven Network announced they would be picking up the show.
Jet are an Australian rock band formed in 2001. Founding mainstays are brothers Nic and Chris Cester together with Cameron Muncey. They were joined in the following year by Mark Wilson. The quartet released three studio albums Get Born (2003), Shine On (2006) and Shaka Rock (2009) before disbanding in 2012. Get Born is their highest charting work, which peaked at number one in Australia, top 20 in the United Kingdom and top 30 in the United States. Its lead single "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (2003) reached the top 20 in Australia and UK and top 30 in the US. Both Shine On and Shaka Rock are Australian top five albums, while their other top 20 singles are "Look What You've Done" (2004), "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" (2006) and "She's a Genius" (2009).
Popstars Live was an Australian music talent show television program similar to Australian Idol that aired on the Seven Network in early 2004. It was an evolution of the original Popstars TV show which aired between 2000 and 2002 on Seven. The show spawned a single and album that made the ARIA charts in April that year.
"Buses and Trains" is the debut single of Australian pop band Bachelor Girl. Released on 18 June 1998 as the first single from the band's debut album, Waiting for the Day (1998), the song peaked at number four on the ARIA Singles Chart and remains the band's highest-charting single. Audius Tonderai Mtawarira is a Zimbabwean singer-songwriter and record producer, who often works mononymously as Audius. From 1996 to 2012 he lived in Australia. At the APRA Music Awards of 2009 he was co-winner of Urban Work of the Year for writing "Running Back" with its singer, Jessica Mauboy, and with American rapper, Sean Ray Mullins.

Their 1998 debut single, "Buses and Trains", was a top-10 hit in Australia and New Zealand; it peaked in the top 30 in Sweden and charted in the UK. The follow-up single, "Treat Me Good", reached the top 40 in Australia and New Zealand. Their debut studio album, Waiting for the Day, was released in 1998 and reached the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart and achieved platinum certification. Worldwide, Bachelor Girl has sold a total of more than 500,000 albums and singles.
Irwin Thomas is an American-born Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He performs professionally using the stage name Jack Jones from when he was the lead vocalist-guitarist in the band Southern Sons (1990–1996).

The 13th Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards was held on 12 October 1999 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Hosted by Paul McDermott and Bob Downe, and presenters, including Melanie C of the Spice Girls, Tina Cousins, Fiona Horne and Molly Meldrum, distributed 33 awards. The big winner for the year was Powderfinger with four awards.

"What You've Done to Me" also reached number 40 on the South Korea Gaon International Digital Chart.

It features tracks from their two studio albums, Waiting for the Day (1998) and Dysfunctional (2002) as well as fan favourites and four previously unreleased tracks recorded between 2002-03. The album was released in Australia on 15 April 2011.
Eleven is the eleventh studio album (9 in English, 2 in French) released by Australian singer and songwriter Tina Arena. The album was released in Australia on 30 October 2015. The first single and only single, "I Want to Love You" was released on 4 September 2015. Arena described Eleven as a "personal album" that was "joyous to make". Arena hinted at a tour, saying "I'm looking forward to playing the songs for you live soon". This was further confirmed in a radio interview on 3AW on 1 September when Arena stated she would be on the road February–March 2016. The album was certified gold in Australia in 2016.
Hit Machine was an Australian compilation album series produced and skewed by Festival Records, Mushroom Records BMG and Columbia Records, available in only Australia. It competed with 100% Hits, which started two years before, during its existence. It was released every three months and are mainly the biggest Top 40 hits of the season. It commenced in 1993 and ran 28 versions until 2000, where it was replaced by the So Fresh series. The replaced series uses the season-named format and includes songs from artists under Universal Music, which was previously included in 100% Hits series. Festival Records was folded to Warner Bros. Records, which managed the 100% Hits and NOW series with EMI. Sony Music Australia and Warner Bros. Records released digitally remastered versions of the entire Hit Machine series from 2015.

Delsinki, stylised as DELSINKI aka Craig Johnston is a Melbourne-based musician. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, Delsinki moved to Melbourne in 1999. He formed the band Gretchen Lewis in 2005; the band recorded their debut album with Lindsay Gravina at Birdland studios and released it independently in 2010. Since 2012 he has operated as solo artist, executive producer and participant of the 'Keep the Circle Unbroken' and 'Sing a Song of Sixpence' touring shows. He has released two albums And There Was Found, No Place For Them and City / Country, the latter debuting at #3 in the ARIA Country Albums chart. Forte Magazine describe Delsinki as 'a type of folk sound that is true to the Australian bush landscape'.
