The Wakestock Action Sports and Music Festival is a wakeboarding contest and Canada's largest action sports and music festival [ citation needed ]. It is held in Ontario, Canada on the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario. The name Wakestock refers to the famous outdoor music festival Woodstock.
Wakestock was born out of Bala, Ontario.
In 2005, the festival was moved to Toronto Islands from August 11–14. Each year the wakeboard competition is accompanied by a music festival. There are several stages with different bands playing throughout day.
There are also other attractions—in 2005 there was a skatepark set up for anyone with a skateboard. There was a Pro Freestyle motocross demonstration as well as a rail competition set up for wakeboarders. There are also separate designated alcohol serving areas because the entire festival is for all ages.
Wakestock 2015 was canceled and 2016 never got beyond planning stages.
On August 9, 2009, Wakestock moved to Collingwood.
The Toronto wakeboarding festival celebrated ten years in 2007 with a 400-square-foot (37 m2) Oakley Pool (designed py Pat Panakos), as well as a music festival featuring the Deftones, Goldfinger, De La Soul, Story of the Year, and Lupe Fiasco on the Telus main stage.

Steve Caballero is an American professional skateboarder. He is known for the difficult tricks and air variations he invented for vertical skating and for setting the long-standing record for the highest air achieved on a halfpipe. In 1999, Thrasher Magazine named Caballero the "Skater of the Century".
The Toronto Islands — historically referred to as Mnisiing, meaning "on the islands," by the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg, and formerly referred to as Aiionwatha or Hiawatha's Island by early European settlers—are a chain of 15 small islands in Lake Ontario, south of mainland Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Comprising the only group of islands in the western part of Lake Ontario, the Toronto Islands are located just offshore from the city's downtown area, provide shelter for Toronto Harbour, and separate Toronto from the rest of Lake Ontario. The islands are home to the Toronto Island Park, the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, several yacht clubs, Centreville Amusement Park, a residential area, and several beaches. The island community is considered to be the largest urban car-free community in North America, although some service vehicles are permitted. Access to the Islands is by ferry, including the City of Toronto ferries operating from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at the foot of Bay Street, or by water taxis.
Relentless is the brand name of an energy drink created in February 2006 by The Coca-Cola Company. The drink has also been the subject of court proceedings for breach of trademark by Relentless Records. In the year ending 2010, sales of the product in the UK increased by 28 percent. After a deal on 14 August 2014 seeing Coca-Cola purchase a 16.7% stake in Monster Energy, the ownership of the Relentless brand was transferred to Monster Energy and Monster Energy's non-energy brands transferred to Coca-Cola.
Rock the Wake was an extreme sports and music festival, which specialized on water sports, hosted in Canada. It took place in the cottage country region of Haliburton, Ontario. The site sat on 2,000 feet (610 m) of waterfront with 400,000 square feet (37,000 m2) of land. The event brought in more than 200 competitors, hundreds of musicians, and thousands of spectators from North America over three days.

Wakesurfing is a water sport in which a rider trails behind a boat, riding the boat's wake without being directly pulled by the boat. After getting up on the wake, typically by use of a tow rope, the wakesurfers will drop the rope, and ride the steep face below the wave's peak in a fashion reminiscent of surfing. Wakesurfers generally use special boards, designed specifically for wakes.
Zane Schwenk is a professional Wakeboarder. He now lives in Winter Haven, Florida. He started professional wakeboarding in 1993 and is still active in the sport today. 2008 marked his 15th year as a Professional, he has also competed in the X Games. He is also the host of the MasterCraft Video series Rewind. Schwenk also has his own line of CWB wakeboards, the Absolute.
Wakestock was Europe's largest wakeboard music festival, combining the cultures of music and wakeboarding. It was held on the Llŷn Peninsula in Wales, in between Pwllheli and Llanbedrog.
Dallas Friday is an American wakeboarder. Her competition victories include four X Games gold medals and several World Wakeboarding Titles. She has also won the ESPN ESPY Award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete.
Wakestock 2008, sponsored by Relentless energy drink, was the 2008 edition of the Wakestock music and wakeboarding festival that took place at two venues in the UK in summer of that year. The two locations were Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and Abersoch in Cardigan Bay, Wales. The line-ups were fairly similar for both sets of concerts but some acts appeared only at one of the events.
Breast cancer survivors' dragon boating is an international movement inspired by the research of Canadian sports medicine specialist Don McKenzie. Survivors of breast cancer join together to paddle dragon boats to the benefit of their physical health and social wellbeing. It is supported internationally by the International Breast Cancer Paddlers' Commission (IBCPC), an Associate Member of the International Dragon Boat Federation.
Ontario Place is an entertainment venue, event venue, and park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The venue is located on three artificial landscaped islands just off-shore in Lake Ontario, south of Exhibition Place, and southwest of Downtown Toronto. It opened on May 22, 1971, and operated as a theme park centered around Ontario themes and family attractions until 2012 when the Government of Ontario announced that it would close for redevelopment. It has since reopened as a park without admission but without several of the old attractions. The Government of Ontario is currently considering further redevelopment of the site.
Luke Skaarup is a professional engineer and also a retired professional strongman from Canada who competed actively in the sport of strongman from 2007 to 2015. During his competitive career, he held many records, most notably the Canadian record for heaviest atlas stone ever lifted in competition, the Ontario record for heaviest deadlift, and the Ontario Record heaviest dumbbell press. He competed in over sixty competitions with his top placings being the 2 x Ontario's Strongest Man Champion, 4th at North America's Strongest Man (2014), and 8th at the World Amateur Strongman Championships (2012).
