Wanq'uri (Aymara wanq'u guinea pig, [2] -ri a suffix, hispanicized spelling Huancure) is a mountain in the Andes of southern Peru, about 5,074.9 metres (16,650 ft) high. It lies in the Puno Region, El Collao Province, Capazo District. Wanq'uri is situated southeast of the mountain Sura Wiqu and northeast of the mountains Tuma Tumani and Ch'ila (Chila). [3]

Aymara is an Aymaran language spoken by the Aymara people of the Andes. It is one of only a handful of Native American languages with over one million speakers. Aymara, along with Spanish, is one of the official languages of Bolivia and parts of Peru. They originated in the Andes of South America, and studies based on biochemistry and hybridization suggest they are domesticated descendants of a closely related species of cavy such as C. tschudii, and therefore do not exist naturally in the wild.
