Washington County is a county in the southwestern corner of Utah, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 180,279, making it the fifth-most populous county in Utah. Its county seat and largest city is St. George. The county was created in 1852 and organized in 1856. It was named after the first President of the United States, George Washington. A portion of the Paiute Indian Reservation is in western Washington County. Washington County comprises the St. George, UT Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Colorado City is a town in Mohave County, Arizona, United States, and is located in a region known as the Arizona Strip. The population was 2,478 at the 2020 census. At least three Mormon fundamentalist sects are said to have been based there. A majority of residents and many local officials belong to the most prominent of these sects, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whose corporation also owned much of the land within and around the town until state intervention in the 2000s.

It enrolls students in grades 10–12 from Hurricane and surrounding communities, including La Verkin, Toquerville, Hildale, Virgin, Rockville, and Springdale. As of January 2019, it serves 1,165 students making it the fourth largest high school in St. George and in the district.
Colorado City Unified School District No. 14 is a school district headquartered in Colorado City, Arizona, serving students in the towns of Colorado City, Centennial Park and part of Cane Beds in rural Mohave County, and in Hildale, Utah. Liahona Preparatory Academy is a regionally accredited private school in Utah County, Utah, United States, that offers instruction to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school was founded by Brent and Kolleen DeGraff. In 2019, the DeGraffs retired and the school was sold to the Long Family and is currently run by Jordan Long, a graduate of and long time teacher/administrator at Liahona. The school blends core academics with the principles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Liahona has been in operation since 1998, and is named after an artifact described in The Book of Mormon.

Mountain Crest High School (MCHS) is a four-year public high school in Hyrum, Utah. Established in 1983 as part of the Cache County School District, its campus is in the southeast part of Hyrum, a city in the Southern part of Cache County. Mountain Crest High is currently in the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) class 4A Region 11 and its mascot is a mustang. The school was split for the 2016-2017 school year after the completion of Ridgeline High School; new boundaries were drawn and a portion of the student body and faculty were assigned to the new school. Students residing in the cities and towns of Hyrum, Wellsville, Mendon, Petersboro, Paradise, Avon, and Mount Sterling are within its geographical jurisdiction.

Wine production in Utah from grapes grown there has increased steadily since 2018, despite stringent government restrictions and regulations regarding alcohol consumption and production in the state. There are no designated American Viticultural Areas in Utah.
Hurricane Linda was a strong tropical cyclone in September 2015 that resulted in heavy rains across portions of Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The seventeenth named storm, eleventh hurricane, and eighth major hurricane of the season, Linda developed southwest of Mexico from a low-pressure area on September 5. Under warm sea surface temperatures and low to moderate wind shear, the system intensified into Tropical Storm Linda by September 6 and a hurricane by the next day. A well-defined eye soon formed within the storm's central dense overcast and Linda reached its peak intensity as a 125 mph (205 km/h) Category 3 major hurricane on the Saffir–Simpson hurricane wind scale on September 8. Thereafter, the storm moved into a stable environment and an area of lower sea surface temperatures, causing rapid weakening. Convective activity dissipated and Linda degenerated into a remnant low on September 10. The lingering system persisted southwest of Baja California, ultimately opening up into a trough on September 14.

Enterprise High School (EHS) is located in Enterprise, Utah, in the southwest part of the state, United States, and is the only 2A public high school in Washington County School District. Enterprise High School's nickname and mascot is the Wolves; the student section is referred to as the Wolf Pack. Enterprise was established in 1896. It was settled by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who were called to settle the area by church leaders. Shortly thereafter, in 1898, a board of trustees was elected to oversee the needs of the 58 children in the community. The first classes were held in a one-room brick home. When the Young Men's Mutual Hall was completed one year later, the school moved into that building. As the community grew, more space was needed and classes were held at various locations and homes in the community. By 1917, the steadily increasing population had created a need for a more permanent school building. Construction began in 1921 on a new nine-room school building, which was completed in January 1922. Until 1922, only grades one through eight were held. With the construction of the new building, grades nine and ten were added. Students in eleventh and twelfth grades who wished to complete their education traveled north to Parowan. The latter two grades were added in 1927. For many years thereafter, grades one through 12 were held in the same building. In 1986, a new building was erected a few blocks southeast of the old school to house grades seven through 12. Most of the old school was demolished and a new elementary school built in its place.
