2003–04 UEFA Champions League 49th season of the UEFA club football tournament

The 2003–04 UEFA Champions League was the 12th season of UEFA's premier European club football tournament, the UEFA Champions League, since its rebranding from the European Cup in 1992, and the 49th tournament overall. The competition was won by Portugal's Porto, who defeated Monaco of France 3–0 at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany for Portugal's first win since 1987. This was Porto's second European trophy in two years, following their UEFA Cup success from the previous season. This was the first UEFA Champions League competition to feature a 16-team knockout round instead of a second group stage.

The 1995 edition of the Copa Libertadores saw Grêmio of Brazil as the champions after they defeated Atlético Nacional of Colombia in the finals.

The men's water polo tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics was held from 1 to 10 August 1992, in Barcelona, Spain. Reigning world champion Yugoslavia had qualified for the tournament, but as it had formally dissolved in the interim, it did not participate. The successor countries did not participate for several reasons. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia could not participate due to the UN sanctions due to their aggression on Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croatia, which was the strongest among them at the time, also did not participate in the water polo tournament. The position of Yugoslavia was replaced by Czechoslovakia.

The 1998 edition of the Copa Libertadores was the 39th in the tournament's history. It was held between February 25 and August 26. Mexican clubs participated in Copa Libertadores for the first time. Vasco da Gama won the cup for the first time in the tournament's history, after defeating Barcelona of Ecuador in the final.

The 2002–03 Coppa Italia was the 56th edition of the tournament, which began on August 18, 2002 and ended on May 31, 2003. In the final, Milan beat Roma 6–3 on aggregate to win their 5th Coppa Italia and first since the 1976–77 edition.
