Waterbed Hev is the first solo album by the American rapper Heavy D. The album was released on April 22, 1997, for Uptown Records and was produced by Heavy D, DJ Battle Cat and Tony Dofat. It marked Heavy D's first album without "The Boyz", DJ Eddie F and G-Wiz. Waterbed Hev made it to Np. 9 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, going gold in the process. Four singles were released, "Waterbed Hev", "I'll Do Anything", "Keep It Coming" (US No. 23) and "Big Daddy" (US No. 18). Guests on the album include Lost Boyz, Soul for Real and Tha Dogg Pound.

Dwight Arrington Myers, known professionally as Heavy D, was a Jamaican-born American rapper, record producer, and actor. Produced by Heavy D and Tony Dofat and featuring vocals from Keanna Henson, "Big Daddy" was a success, peaking at 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became Heavy D's second biggest hit after 1991's "Now That We Found Love", which reached No. 11 on the Hot 100. The single also earned a gold certification on May 6, 1997 for sales of 500,000 copies and reached 73 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1997. The official remix sampled Soul II Soul's 1989 hit "Back to Life " and featured a guest verse from McGruff.
