Saint Lucia is an island country in the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. The island was previously called Iyonola,the name given to the island by the native Arawaks,and later Hewanorra,the name given by the native Caribs,two separate Amerindian peoples. Part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles,it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent,northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. It covers a land area of 617 km2 and reported a population of 165,595 in the 2010 census. Its capital is Castries. Soufrière was colonized by the French and was the original capital of the island.
Sir John George Melvin Compton,,was a Saint Lucian politician who became the first Prime Minister upon independence in February 1979. Having led Saint Lucia under British rule from 1964 to 1979,Compton served as Prime Minister three times:briefly in 1979,again from 1982 to 1996,and from 2006 until his death in 2007. He cofounded the conservative United Workers Party (UWP) in 1964;he led the party until 1996,then again from 2005 to 2007.
Anse la Raye District is one of 10 districts of the island nation of St. Lucia in the Caribbean Sea. The name Anse la Raye is French for cover/bay of the rays,since there are a large number of skate fish or rays in the bay. In 2005/2010,the population of the district was 6,382/6,060 people,and they are mainly fishers and agricultural workers. The main town in the area takes the same name as the district and is located down the western coast from Castries,the capital of the country.

He has represented the Castries East constituency in the House of Assembly since 1997.

General elections were held in Saint Lucia on 26 July 2021,having been constitutionally required by 12 October 2021. Voters elected all 17 members of the House of Assembly. It was the fourth consecutive election in which the incumbent government lost.

Kenson Casimir is a Saint Lucian politician,former sports broadcaster and journalist. Casimir serves as Minister for Youth Development and Sports. He was the endorsed Saint Lucia Labour Party candidate for the constituency of Gros Islet. Casimir claimed his spot in the dubbed landslide victory for the Saint Lucia Labour Party in the 2021 Saint Lucian General Election. Casimir represents the Gros Islet constituency in the House of Assembly.
