The Wendell Commercial Historic District is a national historic district encompassing the historic central business district of Wendell, North Carolina, a town in eastern Wake County. The district is notable for its intact collection of one- and two-story brick masonry commercial buildings executed in the vernacular style typical of eastern North Carolina communities in the first half of the twentieth century. [2] The roughly three-block district is bounded on the north by the 1906 Raleigh-Pamlico Railroad tracks, on the east by Pine Street, on the south by the rear property lines of the structures fronting Third Street, and on the west by the rear property lines of the buildings fronting Main Street. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in July 1998. [1]

Armory Square United States historic place

Armory Square is a small neighborhood on the west side of Downtown Syracuse, New York. It began life as a busy commercial and industrial area just to the west of the central city. After World War II, Syracuse's central city became less and less populated as more housing and business facilities were built in the suburbs. In the 1980s, plans were first made to transform the languishing district into a small shopping/arts/nightlife district surrounding the former Syracuse Armory. These plans came to fruition during the 1990s, when new stores and restaurants opened, and several new buildings were constructed in a compatible style to the middle and late 1800s and early 1900s architecture dominating the district.

Margaret Mitchell House and Museum United States historic place

The Margaret Mitchell House is a historic house museum located in Atlanta, Georgia. The structure was the home of author Margaret Mitchell in the early 20th century. It is located in Midtown, at 979 Crescent Avenue. Constructed by Cornelius J. Sheehan as a single-family residence in a then-fashionable section of residential Peachtree Street, the building's original address was 806 Peachtree Street. The house was known as the Crescent Apartments when Mitchell and her husband lived in Apt. 1 on the ground floor from 1925 to 1932. While living there, Mitchell wrote the bulk of her Pulitzer Prize-winning 1936 novel, Gone with the Wind.

Bateman Hotel (Lowville, New York) United States historic place

The Bateman Hotel, previously known as Howell Hotel or Kellogg Hotel, located in Lowville, New York, is now a conglomerate of condos. At one time, it was a hotel with a kitchen, a dining room, and a saloon. The hotel is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Falls Village is a village and census-designated place in the town of Canaan in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 538, out of 1,234 in the entire town of Canaan. Because Falls Village is the town center and principal constituent village in Canaan, the entire town is often referred to as "Falls Village". That usage also avoids confusion of the town with Canaan Village in the town of North Canaan, Connecticut, not far away. The Harmony Plantation, also known as Montague-Jones Farm, is a historic plantation house located at 5104 Riley Hill Road near Wendell, North Carolina, a town in eastern Wake County. It was built in 1833, and is a two-story, three bay, single-pile, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard, has a hipped roof, and a gabled rear ell. The front facade features a centered, double-tier pedimented, front-gabled portico with bracketed cornice and unfluted Doric order columns. Also on the property is a contributing one-story, rectangular, beaded weatherboard building that once housed a doctor's office (1833).

Awbury Historic District United States historic place

The Awbury Historic District is a historic area in the East Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It encompasses the former summer homes and farms of the extended Cope family, who moved to the area starting in 1849 and the entire Awbury Arboretum, which occupies most of the district's area, as well as adjacent properties developed and occupied by Henry Cope (1793-1865), son and successor to prominent Philadelphia Orthodox Quaker merchant Thomas Pym Cope (1768-1854), his close relatives, and his descendants. The district, which has been described by Philadelphia area historians as "visually distinct from the densely-built urban blocks that surround it on three sides, and from the level, open landscape of the city park to the northwest," features buildings which were designed in the Gothic Revival, Italian Villa, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, Shingle, and Colonial Revival styles of architecture between 1849 and 1922.

Maysville Downtown Historic District United States historic place

The Maysville Downtown Historic District or "downtown" is the area first settled and developed. Situated in the western part of Maysville, Kentucky, United States, the downtown is defined by a grid of streets laid out parallel to the northwest-southeast curve of the Ohio River. The area is essentially rectangular, four and a half blocks long and two to two and a half blocks wide. Its western edge is marked by Wall Street and its northern extent by West Front Street and McDonald Parkway. Its eastern and southern boundaries generally conform to the rear property lines of buildings on the east side of Limestone Street and the south side of Third Street respectively.

The residential district encompasses 74 contributing buildings built between about 1890 and 1958. It includes notable examples of Colonial Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the Wendell Baptist Church (1937), Wendell United Methodist Church (1923), and a service station (1958).

Schramm Building, also known as Jochims Building, is a historic building located in the central business district of Burlington, Iowa, United States. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, and it was included as a contributing property in the Downtown Commercial Historic District in 2015.
