Weronika Tofilska (born 1985) [1] is a Polish director and screenwriter. She is best known for co-writing the romantic thriller film Love Lies Bleeding (2024) and for directing the first four episodes of the Netflix miniseries Baby Reindeer (2024), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
Tofilska was born in Katowice. [2] She attended the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and Emilia Plater High School in Sosnowiec. [3] As a teenager, she volunteered at the New Horizons Film Festival. [4] [5] She bought her first camera, a Sony MiniDV camcorder, after watching Miloš Forman's Amadeus for the first time. [6] She attended the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School before later graduating from the National Film and Television School in 2014. [7] [8] Since graduating, she has lived and worked in London. In 2019, she worked as a second unit director on an episode of Gangs of London . [8] In 2021, she directed two episodes of the crime drama television series The Irregulars . [11] [12] In 2022, she directed one episode of the fantasy drama series His Dark Materials . [13]
In 2024, she co-wrote the romantic thriller film Love Lies Bleeding with Rose Glass, with whom she attended the National Film and Television School.
