Western Express Highway is an elevated metro station on the Blue Line 1 of Mumbai Metro serving the Andheri suburb of Mumbai, India. It is the flagship station of the line [2] and was opened to the public on 8 June 2014.

History

The Western Express Highway station was opened to the public on 8 June 2014. [3] In August 2016, the MMOPL announced that Western Express Highway station would be rebranded as MagicBricks WEH Metro station, as part of a sponsorship deal. [4] [5]

On 29 November 2022, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority completed construction of a 58 metre long foot overbridge connecting the station with Gundavali on Line 7. [6] Gundavali station was opened to the public on 20 January 2023. [7]

Chakala is a locality in the suburb of Andheri in Mumbai. It had a station on the Salsette–Trombay Railway, which was dismantled after the rail line closed down in 1934. It is served by the Western Express Highway and Chakala stations on Line 1 of the Mumbai Metro.

The Western line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway is a public transit system serving Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Maharashtra. It consists of 37 stations from Dahanu Road to Churchgate railway station. It is operated by Western Railways (WR). The entire line is at grade.

Red Line 9 (extension) of the Mumbai Metro is part of the metro system for the city of Mumbai, India. Metro Line 9 is an extension of the Red Line from Andheri to CSMIA and Dahisar to Mira Road. This line will be unique from the other metro lines because it will run on a double-decker bridge. There will be a flyover on the first deck and the metro will run on the second deck. The flyover will start near the proposed Shivaji Chowk metro station and will end in Bhayander (West) via Mira Bhayander Road. It shall provide interconnectivity among the Western Express Highway, the Western Line, and the Mumbai Metro.
