AllMusic said the album is "a success on virtually every level." [2] All About Jazz noted that "While plenty of musicians tend to slow down as they get older, the opposite seems to be happening with this septuagenarian", and said it "is every bit as magical as the best of Lloyd's output." [3] The Los Angeles Times stated: "Here the dulcimer-like Hungarian cimbalom and the bowed lyra color the open-ended framework of a six-part suite." [4]

Chet Baker Sings is the debut vocal album by jazz musician Chet Baker, released in 1954 by Pacific Jazz Records. In 2001, the album received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. Baker would return to selections from this album throughout his career. "My Funny Valentine" was regularly included in his concert performances, and is considered by some to be his signature song.
