Built for John Wilkins in 1911 in the Highland Park community of northeast Los Angeles, the house is emblematic of Craftsman style architecture. The Menlo Avenue–West Twenty-ninth Street Historic District is a historic district in the North University Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, which is itself part of the city's West Adams district. The area consists of late Victorian and Craftsman-style homes dating back to 1896. The area is bounded by West Adams Boulevard on the north, Ellendale on the east, West Thirtieth Street on the south, and Vermont Avenue to the west. The district is noted for its well-preserved period architecture, reflecting the transition from late Victorian and shingle-styles to the American Craftsman style that took hold in Southern California in the early 1900s. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Holmes-Shannon House is a Craftsman style home with Tudor influences, built in 1911 in the Victoria Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Designed by Robert Farquhar Train and Robert Edmund Williams, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2008 based on its well-preserved Craftsman architecture. It is also listed as a Historic-Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, which described it as "a residential building designed in the Tudor-Craftsman style by a prominent firm and reflective of the development of Victoria Park".

Sheats Apartments

The Sheats Apartments, also known as L'Horizon and sometimes mistakenly as the Sheets Apartments, is a historic eight-unit, multi-family building located at 10919 Strathmore Drive, in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Designed in 1948 in a futuristic or modernistic style of architecture by noted Los Angeles architect John Lautner, it was completed in 1949 for owners Helen Taylor Sheats, a renowned artist, who assisted in the design, and her professor/dean of University of California Extension husband, Paul Henry Sheats. Because of its proximity to UCLA, it was intended for and has been used primarily for student occupancy. In their book An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles, David Gebhard and Robert Winter praised its functionality by noting, "each apartment [is] completely separated from the others. .. with its own terraces, decks, and outdoor garden space." " On June 21, 1988, the City of Los Angeles designated the building a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
