The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground in the south-eastern area of the inner city while the Thunder play out of Sydney Showground Stadium further west. Their home ground is the Adelaide Oval,and they play in a cornflower blue uniform. Coached by Ashley Noffke and captained by Jess Jonassen,the Heat finished the regular season of WBBL|08 in third position. For the second year in a row,they were eliminated from the tournament during the knockout phase by the Adelaide Strikers.
The 2022–23 Melbourne Renegades Women's season was the eighth in the team's history. Coached by Simon Helmot and captained by Sophie Molineux,the Renegades finished the regular season of WBBL|08 in seventh position and failed to qualify for the finals.
