Willemijn J.M. Aerdts (born 21 April 1983) is a Dutch politician and scientist who has been a member of the Senate on behalf of Democrats 66 since 13 June 2023. She is also a lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at the Campus The Hague of Leiden University.

Career

Scientific career

Aerdts obtained her master's degree in International Relations in Historical Perspective from Utrecht University and subsequently obtained an LLM in International Public Law. [1] At Leiden University she worked on her PhD on the supervision of the Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service and the AIVD. [2] In May 2023, her book Diensten met geheimen was published. [3]

Politics

Between 2021 and 2023, Aerdts was the chair of the Els Borst network of D66. [4]

She was subsequently in second place on the D66 candidate list for the 2023 Senate elections. [5] After being elected in the 2023 Dutch Senate election, she has been a member of the Senate since 13 June 2023. [6]

Hatta Hannelore "Hatte" van der Woude is a Dutch politician who has represented the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) in the House of Representatives since 2021. She started her career in Vietnam and Singapore and later worked for The Hague University of Applied Sciences as a researcher, lecturer and policy advisor. Van der Woude was politically active in Delft's municipal council (2012–2016) and as an alderwoman in the city's municipal executive (2018–2021) prior to being elected to the House of Representatives in the 2021 general election.
