The winner of the 2022 gubernatorial election is scheduled to be sworn in on January 17,2023. The Democratic and Republican primaries were held on May 17,2022. Democratic Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Republican state senator Doug Mastriano won their parties' respective nominations. Mastriano's nomination in particular drew attention due to his far-right political views.
