He previously served as the 31st governor of Illinois from 1949 to 1953 and was the Democratic nominee for president of the United States in 1952 and 1956, losing both elections to Dwight D. Emily Susan Silver is an American competitive swimmer, Olympic medalist, and swim coach. She was a member of the silver-medal-winning U.S. team of the 4×100 metre freestyle relay at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She competed alongside fellow American swimmers Natalie Coughlin, Lacey Nymeyer and Kara Lynn Joyce. Silver overcame a broken hand suffered in the U.S. Olympic Trials, returning after a few weeks to compete at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Maryanne Graham, also known by her married name Maryanne Keever, is an American former competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. She competed in the preliminary heats of the women's 200-meter backstroke, finishing with the twelfth best overall performance, but she did not advance to the event final. She is currently a coach for Scottsdale Aquatic Club.

The 1897 Cornell Big Red football team was an American football team that represented Cornell University during the 1897 college football season. In their first season under head coach Pop Warner, the Big Red compiled a 5–3–1 record and outscored all opponents by a combined total of 133 to 42. Three Cornell players received honors on the 1897 College Football All-America Team: quarterback George Young, Cornell ; end William McKeever (Camp-2); and end Lyndon S. Tracy, Cornell (Camp-3).

William Winton McKeever Jr. was an American football tackle who played one season for the Los Angeles Bulldogs of the Pacific Coast Football League (PCFL). He played college football for Cornell and was selected in the tenth round of the 1939 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.
