Willy Chavarria is an American fashion designer born in Fresno, California. He is the founder of his eponymous label (stylized as WILLY CHAVARRIA), and is the current Senior Vice President of Design at Calvin Klein. [1]
Chavarria was born to an Irish-American mother and a Mexican-American father in July, 1967. [2] In his early 20's he attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco to pursue a degree in graphics design. During his time in school, he found part-time employment for Joe Boxer working in the shipping department. [1]
During his employment at the Joe Boxer shipping department, Chavarria would spend time after hours to work on sketches and designs. This work secured him an internship with Nicholas Graham at Joe Boxer, and develops into a designer role for the company. [3] [4] After taking an interest in athletics and personal training, he takes a designer role for Voler, a cycling and multi-sport apparel company. At this time Ralph Lauren was forming a diffusion line for cycling apparel named RLX, and through a collaboration with Voler, Chavarria was hired to work on this new line in 1999. [4]
In November 2010, Chavarria and David Ramirez opened Palmer Trading Company as co-owners in New York City. The menswear store carried both vintage goods and contemporary pieces that complimented it's Americana aesthetic. [5] The store's in-house label was also sold to retailers globally including Journal Standard Relume, Steven Alan, and Opening Ceremony. [6] In 2015, the store collaborated with footwear manufacturer Viberg on an ankle height derby boot. [7]
He launched his eponymous label in 2015, and “from his casting to his designs, Mexican American designer Willy Chavarria has always knitted politics into fashion, and fought to see beauty where it is rarely recognized.” [8] Since, his collection has been stocked at prestigious retailers worldwide, including Barneys, Dover Street Market, Browns, and many more. Chavarria became known for his distinct interpretation of men's fashion mixing race, politics, sexuality into graceful and elegant apparel. [9] He was one of the first New York designers to cast only models of color and used his shows for political expression. [10] [11] In 2016 he showed his Spring/Summer collection at the Eagle Bar in New York City juxtaposed with religion, lowrider and leather bar influences. [12] Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Robin Givhan noted that Willy "produces some of the most socially engaging runway shows in New York." [13] Willy also gained the attention of Vogue, with Nick Remsen noting that "Chavarria is a smart, worldly creative who knows how to be all-inclusive while still carving out his own distinct M.O." [14] For his Spring/Summer 2019 Collection, Chavarria collaborated with sportswear brand Hummel. This collection references late 1990's/2000's streetwear seen in New York City through skyline graphics, inspiration from brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, and inverted American flag prints. [15] His work for this season would be featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition titled, "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion." [16] Chavarria's Fall 2020 collection features sustainable materials on the runway by collaborating with textile manufacturer Recyctex to reuse discarded fabric waste in his garments. [17] The Spring 2022 runway collection highlights Chavarria's signature oversized sillouhuettes, subversive takes on masculinity, and roots in Chicano subculture. He stated, "I wanted it to feel like couture, to feel regal... and then to shift that against the toughness of New York." The collection also highlights an effort to utilize a made-to-order business model for higher end garments at the label to reduce fashion waste. [18]
Raf Jan Simons is a Belgian fashion designer. Beginning in furniture design, Simons launched his own menswear label in 1995. He was creative director at Jil Sander (2005–2012), Christian Dior (2012–2015), and Calvin Klein (2016–2018). As of 1 April 2020, he is the co-creative director of Prada, in partnership with Miuccia Prada.
Calvin Klein Collection was the brand name for the high-end designer womenswear and menswear lines from fashion house Calvin Klein which were presented on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week, respectively.

She had a ready-to-wear line of women's apparel bearing her name, Behnaz Sarafpour, Ltd. from 2001 until 2014, and has her own perfume line. Sarafpour has held design positions at Isaac Mizrahi, Narciso Rodriguez, Richard Tyler, Anne Klein, and Barneys New York. She has been based in New York City and Pound Ridge, New York.

Lim co-founded and worked at the Los Angeles-based fashion label Development from 2000 to 2004. Raun LaRose is an American menswear fashion designer based in New York, New York. He has received recognition for his futuristic style and use of progressive fabrics and texture in his work. He attended Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) majoring in menswear design. Larose later traveled to Paris, France in order to intern with designer, Zac Posen (2010). When he returned to the States, he decided to work on his self-titled brand, "Raun Larose." He returned to Paris in 2012 to attend Paris Fashion Week and was profiled by Gentlemen's Quarterly (GQ), Women's Wear Daily (WWD), as well as other press outlets. Shortly after, he traveled to London, England, where he collaborated with Rankin Studios in a fashion video entitled, "The Dancer" (2012). He was featured in Vogue Italia in the September issue of 2012, in which he was profiled as one of the 190 emerging designers worldwide. His 2015 collection, "Because the Internet," has been received with rave reviews worldwide. Recently, Raun Larose was sponsored by the CFDA, where he was given a platform for his first presentation in New York City during New York Fashion Week Men's for his namesake collection, for Fall 2017. His collection, "To Whom It May Concern," was profiled widely. His focus on creating pieces that experiment with proportions and progressive fabrics, all while maintaining the element of practicality, is as he says, "... a cross between artistic references and mainstream consumerism.”
