Wisconsin Mr. Basketball

Each year the Wisconsin Mr. Basketball award is given to the person chosen as the best high school boys basketball player in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, in the United States.

Contents

The award has been given since 1982. Winners are chosen by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association at the time of their annual All-State selections. Most of the award winners have gone on to play at the highest levels of college basketball, and some have gone on to play in the National Basketball Association. [1]

Voting is done by a panel of retired members that select the winner after receiving nomination information and reviewing film on each candidate.

Only those in the Senior class are eligible to win in Wisconsin.

The Illinois Mr. Basketball award is given to the person chosen as the best high school boys basketball player in the U.S. state of Illinois.

Each year, the Iowa Mr. Basketball award is given to the male athlete chosen as the best high school boys basketball player in the U.S. state of Iowa in the United States.

Each year the Hal Schram Mr. Basketball award is given to the person chosen as the best high school senior boys basketball player in the U.S. state of Michigan. The award is named in honor of the late Hal Schram, a sports writer at the Detroit Free Press who covered high school sports for 40 years before retiring in 1983.

The 2008 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was an All-star basketball game played on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks. The game's rosters featured the best and most highly recruited high school boys graduating in 2008. The game was the 31st annual version of the McDonald's All-American Game first played in 1978.

The WBCA NCAA Division I Defensive Player of the Year is awarded by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to the best defensive player in NCAA Division I women's basketball. The winner is selected from among the winners of the defensive player of the year award for each individual conference. If any individual conference does not have such an award, the conference can nominate a player to be considered for the countrywide award. The award has been given annually since 2007 and is chosen by a WBCA selection committee.

The Cheryl Miller Award is an award presented annually to the best women's basketball small forward in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I competition. It is named after Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller. While at Riverside (CA) Polytechnic High School, Miller set a single game scoring record of 105 points in a game in 1982. She was a four-time All-America, a three-time Naismith Player of the Year and a Wade Trophy winner while accumulating 3,018 career points at USC from 1982 to 1986. Miller is a 1984 Olympic gold medalist and was named the best college basketball player, both male and female, in 1986 by Sports Illustrated.

Patrick O'Neal Baldwin Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Milwaukee Panthers. He was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top players in the 2021 class.
