Later the Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations and the Kwakiutl First Nation separated into the two groups that are recognized by the federal government. Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations were forcibly relocated from their homelands to a location near Port Hardy.
Actaeon Sound is a sound in the Queen Charlotte Strait region of the Central Coast of British Columbia, branching off northeasterly from the north side of Drury Inlet near its head on the mainland of British Columbia to the north of the town of Port McNeill, on the opposite side of Queen Charlotte Strait. On the south side of the sound is the Bond Peninsula at 50°56′50″N127°06′55″W, which is formed by a sidewater, Bond Lagoon at 50°56′34″N127°06′34″W, both presumably named in 1865 by Captain Pender, in association with other Admiralty and HMS Actaeon-related names.
Katit Indian Reserve No. 1 is the main Indian reserve of the Wuikinuxv people, and is one of the three reserves governed by the Wuikinuxv Nation band government. It is located in British Columbia, Canada, on the entrance to Owikeno Lake on the north side of the Wannock River near to, but separate from, the non-native community and sport fishing resort of Rivers Inlet. Similarly named Katit Island is in the Wannock River at 51°40′41″N127°11′48″W, while Kahtit Creek is downstream, near the mouth of the Wannock River at 51°40′47″N127°15′00″W near the Wuikinuxv village known as Oweekeno.
Tribune Channel is a channel or strait on the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada, separating the north and east sides of Gilford Island from the mainland. The channel bends around the island's east side, with the mouth of Thompson Sound at the elbow of the bend, opening eastwards to the mouth of the Kakweiken River.
Bond Sound is a sound located on the northeast side of Tribune Channel in the Central Coast region of British Columbia. Bond Sound, with the head of Kingcome Inlet to its north, frames the Wishart Peninsula. Beaver Cove is a cove on Northern Vancouver Island, immediately to the south of the junction of Johnstone and Broughton Straits. The community of the same name is located at the head of the cove, as was a now-former logging community, Englewood. The mouth of the Kokish River is at the head of the cove, southeast of the site of Englewood. Drury inlet is an inlet in the Queen Charlotte Strait region of the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada, extending west from Wells Passage to the northwest of North Broughton Island, northwest of the town of Port Hardy. Branching off to the northeast from the north side of the head of the inlet is Actaeon Sound.
The Claud Elliott Creek Ecological Reserve is located southwest of the junction of Claud Elliott Creek and the Tsitsika River on northern Vancouver Island, southwest of the community of Sayward. The reserve, which was created to protect representative old-growth montane forests, was established in 1989, comprising approximately 231 hectares. It was expanded slightly in 2004 to a current total area of approximately 233 hectares.
