Words of the Prophets is the first EP from Canadian heavy metal band Kobra and the Lotus. [1] It was released on August 28, 2015 [2] via Titan Music, and was produced by Johnny K.
The album consists of cover songs, as a tribute to the Canadian bands that the members of Kobra and the Lotus grew up listening to. [3] On 23 June 2015, a music video for "Black Velvet" (originally recorded by Alannah Myles) was premiered via Revolver Magazine. [4]

Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup consisting of Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, alongside Dave Kushner formerly of punk band Wasted Youth, and Scott Weiland formerly of Stone Temple Pilots. The band formed in 2002 and was active until 2008, when Weiland left the band abruptly to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots.

It was released in January 1990 as one of four singles from Myles' 1989 eponymous album from Atlantic Records. It became a number-one hit for two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1990 and reached number one on the Album Rock Tracks chart, as well as number ten in her native Canada and number two on the UK Singles Chart. The power ballad also reached number one in Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland and was a major success in several other countries. It contains blues verses with a rock chorus.
