The 1971 Pan American Games were held in Cali, Colombia, from July 30 to August 13, 1971. A total of 2,935 athletes from 32 countries participated in seventeen sports.
The 1975 Pan American Games were held in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 12 to October 26, 1975, exactly twenty years after the second Pan American Games were held there. It was the third major sporting event held in the Mexican capital in seven years, after the 1968 Summer Olympics and the 1970 FIFA World Cup.
Colombia has participated in all editions of the Pan American games since its inception in 1951, except in 1959 and 1963. Hurdler Jaime Aparicio Rodewaldt won the country's first medal at the inaugural edition of the games in Buenos Aires 1951, a gold medal at the 400 m hurdles. The country is ranked seventh in the all-time Pan American games medal table. Cali, the capital of the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca, held the 1971 Pan American Games, and to date, the only time Colombia hosted the games. Its best performance was at the 2019 Edition in Lima, where it earned 28 golden medals, however, their best rank was at Toronto 2015 ranking fifth. The nation has won a total of 136 golden medals, and 568 overall, with weightlifting, roller skating, and cycling as the most successful sports.
Wrestling competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 15 to 18 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. Due to naming rights the arena will be known as the latter for the duration of the games. The competition is split into two disciplines, Freestyle and Greco-Roman which were further divided into different weight categories. Men competed in both disciplines whereas women only took part in the freestyle events, with 18 gold medals awarded. Wrestling has been contested at every Pan American Games.
The Pacific Ocean Games was a multi-sport event between countries of the Pacific Rim. It was held only once, in 1995 from June 23 to July 3 in Cali, Colombia. Some events were also hosted in the Colombian cities of Buenaventura, Armenia, Pereira, Manizales, Popayán.
The Colombia national under-23 football team represents Colombia at the Summer Olympic Games and in international under-23 football competitions and is overseen by the Colombian Football Federation.
Betzabeth Argüello is a Venezuelan freestyle wrestler. She competed in the women's freestyle 53 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which she lost the bronze medal match to Nataliya Synyshyn.
The 2021 Junior Pan American Games was an international multi-sports event for athletes aged 17 to 22 in the Americas, organized by Panam Sports held in Cali and Valle, Colombia between November 25 to December 5, 2021.
Colombia competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's twentieth appearance at the Summer Olympics, with the exception of Helsinki 1952.
Luis Eduardo Avendaño Rojas is a Venezuelan Greco-Roman wrestler. He won the gold medal in the men's 87 kg event at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and the 2022 South American Games in Asunción, Paraguay. He is also a two-time gold medalist at the Pan American Wrestling Championships.
Óscar Eduardo Tigreros Urbano is a Colombian freestyle wrestler. He won the gold medal in the men's 57 kg event at the 2022 Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar, Colombia. He is also a South American Games gold medalist and two-time Pan American runner-up. He competed in the men's 57 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Luisa Elizabeth Valverde Melendres is an Ecuadorian freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time gold medalist at the South American Games and a bronze medalist at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile. She also won medals at the Pan American Wrestling Championships.

The 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships was the 35th edition of Pan American Wrestling Championships of combined events. It was held from May 5 to 8 in Acapulco, Mexico.
Wrestling competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile are scheduled to be held between November 1 and 4, 2023 at the Olympic Training Center in Ñuñoa.

Yessica Coraima Oviedo Pérez is a Dominican Republic freestyle wrestler. She is a four-time medalist at the Pan American Wrestling Championships and a three-time medalist, including gold, at the Bolivarian Games. She is also a bronze medalist at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
Colombia is scheduled to compete at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile from October 20 to November 5, 2023. This will be Colombia's 19th appearance at the Pan American Games, having competed at every Games since the inaugural edition in 1951.
Nathaly Josefina Grimán Herrera is a Venezuelan freestyle wrestler. She is a gold medalist at the Central American and Caribbean Games and a two-time gold medalist at the Bolivarian Games. She is also a five-time medalist at the Pan American Wrestling Championships.
