The Wright Commander was a low-floor single-decker bus body built on the DAF/VDL SB200 chassis by Wrightbus between 2002 and 2007. [1]

Low-floor bus a bus with a low floor

A low-floor bus is a bus or trolleybus that has no steps between the ground and the floor of the bus at one or more entrances, and low floor for part or all of the passenger cabin. A bus with a partial low floor may also be referred to as a low-entry bus in some locations.

VDL SB200

The VDL SB200 was a light-weight 12m low floor single decker bus chassis produced from 2001 by VDL Bus & Coach. It superseded the SB220.

Wrightbus

Wrightbus is a Northern Irish coachbuilder and pioneer of the low-floor bus based in Northern Ireland; it was established in 1946 by Robert Wright and currently run by his son William Wright.

History

Visually and structurally, it is a larger version of the Wright Cadet. Along with the Cadet, it perpetuated the 'Classic' styling for several years after the Scania (Axcess-Floline) and Volvo (Renown) based equivalents had been phased out. Of the 315 produced, 288 were purchased by Arriva including 188 for its Netherlands subsidiary. [2] [3] [4]

Wright Cadet

The Wright Cadet was a low floor midibus body built on the DAF/VDL SB120 chassis by Wrightbus between 2000 and 2006. It was sold via VDL dealer Arriva Bus & Coach. Of the 681 produced, 366 were for Arriva subsidiaries including eight for its Netherlands subsidiary. Bus Éireann purchased 35.

The Wright Axcess-Floline was a low floor single-deck bus body built on the Scania L94UB chassis by Wrightbus between 1998 and 2001.

The Commander was superseded by the Pulsar.

Wright Electrocity

The Wright Electrocity was a type of hybrid electric bus built by Wrightbus between 2002 and 2013. The Electrocity was based on DAF/VDL SB120 chassis for most of these buses, except for a single Dennis Dart SLF prototype.

Wright Meridian

The Wright Meridian was a low floor single-decker bus body built on the MAN NL273F chassis by Wrightbus. The body was essentially the same as the Eclipse.

Wright Pulsar

The Wright Pulsar was a single-decker bus body built on the VDL SB200 single-decker bus chassis by Wrightbus between 2006 and 2014.

Wright Crusader

The Wright Crusader was a single-decker bus body built on Dennis Dart SLF, Volvo B6LE and Volvo B6BLE chassis by Wrightbus between 1995 and 2002.

Wright Fusion

The Wright Fusion was a low floor tri-axle articulated single-decker bus body built on the Volvo B10LA chassis by Wrightbus from 1998 until 1999. It was the articulated version of the Wright Liberator.

Wright Solar

The Wright Solar was a low entry single-decker bus body built on Scania L94UB and Scania K UB chassis by Wrightbus between 2000 and 2009. The Wright Solar Fusion was an articulated version.

Wright Eclipse

The Wright Eclipse is a low-floor single-deck bus body built by Wrightbus since 1999. The second-generation Eclipse 2 was launched in 2008, followed by the third-generation Eclipse 3 in 2015. The Eclipse, and its sister design the Solar, were named for a solar eclipse which was visible in the UK in 1999, the year of its introduction.

Wright Eclipse Fusion

The Wright Eclipse Fusion is a low floor articulated single-decker bus body built on the Volvo B7LA chassis by Wrightbus. It was the articulated version of the Wright Eclipse, succeeding the Wright Fusion.

Wright Gemini 2

The Wright Gemini 2 was a double-decker bus built by Wrightbus between 2007 and 2013. It was announced in December 2007 but was not named until 2008. It was constructed as a semi-integral vehicle, with VDL DB300 chassis modules. The bodywork utilised some lighter materials so that the vehicle was lighter than the Eclipse Gemini and Pulsar Gemini bodied buses. It was available in two versions; the Gemini 2 DL diesel-powered version, and the Gemini 2 HEV diesel-electric hybrid version.

Berkhof Ambassador

The Berkhof Ambassador is a low-floor city bus produced by the Dutch bus manufacturer VDL Berkhof between 2001 and 2011 when it was replaced by the VDL Citea. The section between the front and rear door are at the same height. The seats at the very rear are a bit higher, and can be reached by using stairs.

Wright StreetLite

The Wright StreetLite is a low-floor midibus introduced by Wrightbus in 2010. It was originally available in only one body style before the door forward and StreetLite Max variants were introduced in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Wright Endeavour

The Wright Endeavour was a high-floor bus body built by Wrightbus in 1992/93. The body was the first in what was to become the "classic" range of Wrightbus body style that was built until 2012. Only 35 were produced; 25 on Leyland Tiger chassis for Ulsterbus and 10 Scania K93CRBs for Yorkshire Traction.

Wright SRM

The Wright SRM is a twin-axle double-decker bus body manufactured by Wrightbus, designed for the Volvo B5LH and Volvo B5LHC hybrid chassis. The design is based on the New Routemaster, sharing the majority of body panels up to the rear quarter section but having no second staircase or third door. It was designed with provincial bus operators in mind, rather than being exclusively for bus operators in London.

The Wright StreetAir is a low-floor electric bus design, built by Wrightbus in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, available as both a single-decker bus and double-decker bus. The StreetAir replaces the Wright Electrocity and Wright StreetLite EV in Wrightbus' product range.
