X-Reads is a podcast co-hosted by Chandler Poling & Chris Riley, about classic issues of X-Men comic books from different eras of the series. Guests on the show have included the writers and artists Chris Claremont, Bill Sienkiewicz, Fabian Nicieza, Anne Nocenti, and several of the voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97 . Launched during San Diego Comic-Con weekend in 2019, the show's format consists of recapping single issues of comics in the X-Men Universe, page by page, often including the vintage ads of the era. Their first guest appearance was Lenore Zann, the voice of Rogue from X-Men: The Animated Series and now currently voicing the character in X-Men '97. [2] Additional talent from the animated shows later appeared on the podcast including Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Kari Walhgren (Emma Frost), [3] Chris Britton (Mr. Sinister), Matthew Waterson (Magneto), and Isaac Robinson-Smith (Bishop). As of January 2025 [update] the podcast was ranked fifth in the "15 Best X-Men (Comics) Podcasts" by Feedspot. [4]
In 2024 Poling and Riley turned the podcast into a virtual and later live annual event called the "X-Men Fandom Panel" held at WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con, for X-Mens fans and professionals. [5] [6] Guests on the panel have include Shawn Ashmore, Finola Hughes, Gerry Duggan and George Buza. [7]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, X-Reads launched a fundraiser in partnership with other podcasts to raise money for local comic book shops affected by the lock-down. This was done through BINC's Comicbook United Fund, which supplied support to shop owners in need. [8]
In 2021, Poling and Riley hosted a virtual red carpet ceremony for the fictional Hellfire Gala, with Nerdist and Marvel Comics. [9] The Hellfire Gala took place in comics from 2021 to 2023 and featured original fashion designs on superheroes, inspired by the Met Gala in New York City. Featured on the live stream were comic creators, cosplayers and celebrities including by Emma Dumont (now Nick Dumont), Kari Wahlgren, Russell Dauterman, Zeb Wells, Jordan D White, Dax ExclamationPoint, and fashion designer Samantha Rei.
In January 2022, X-Reads Podcast was brought into the AIPT Comics podcast network. [10]
As of January 2025 [update] the podcast has aired 135 episodes, and posts bi-weekly on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. [11]

He is also known for his columns and blog News from ME, and for his work as a historian and biographer of the comics industry, such as his award-winning Jack Kirby biography, Kirby: King of Comics.
Polaris is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Arnold Drake and artist Jim Steranko, the character first appeared in The X-Men #49. Lorna Dane belongs to the subspecies of humans called mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. She can control magnetism in a manner similar to her father Magneto. The character has been known as Polaris, Malice, and Pestilence at various points in her history. Dane has also been a member of the X-Men and the X-Factor.

Several fictional groups of mutants have used the name the Hellions in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Hellions have always been portrayed as rivals of various teams of younger mutant heroes in the X-Men franchise, initially as actual villains and later on a team that was more of a school rival than actual enemies of the X-Men.

Synch is a fictional character and mutant superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Scott Lobdell, he first appeared in X-Men #36. During the Krakoan Age, the character is resurrected in the Dawn of X phase and then appears in Jonathan Hickman's X-Men. In 2021, Synch joined the X-Men team roster in the relaunched flagship book X-Men written by Gerry Duggan. He would remain on the team during the Reign of X, Destiny of X and Fall of X publishing phases and become the team leader in the final phase. The character also appeared in other releated books such as the Immortal X-Men (2022) series and the Rise of the Powers of X (2024) miniseries.
Christopher Ryan Hardwick is an American comedian, actor, television and podcast host, writer, and producer. He hosted Talking Dead, an hourlong aftershow on AMC affiliated with the network's zombie drama series The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, as well as Talking with Chris Hardwick, a show in which Hardwick interviews prominent pop culture figures, and The Wall, a plinko-inspired gameshow on NBC, Hardwick created Nerdist Industries, operator of the Nerdist Podcast Network and home of his podcast The Nerdist Podcast, which later left the network and was renamed to ID10T with Chris Hardwick. His podcast had broadcast 1,000 episodes as of December 2019.
Comic Geek Speak (CGS) is a comics audio podcast that focuses on current mainstream and small-press comic books, featuring creator interviews, reviews, commentary on the comic book craft and industry, comic-related movie discussions and more. Bryan Deemer and Peter Rios began the Comic Geek Speak podcast in 2005 and the original roster of hosts expanded to include Shane Kelly, Kevin Moyer, Jamie D., Matt, Adam "Murd" Murdough, and Brian "Pants" Christman, friends from their local comic shop, Golden Eagle Comics in Reading, Pa. Other hosts would join later as replacements, including Chris Eberle, and Ian Levenstein. The hosts express their individual opinions in an informal way that many fans think resembles a discussion between friends hanging out at home or at the local comic shop, giving the podcast a unique point of view.

The gala unveiled the new team of X-Men and showcased the terraforming of Mars into Planet Arrako.
X-Men '97 is an American animated television series created by Beau DeMayo for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the X-Men. It is a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997) produced by Marvel Studios Animation, and continues the story of the X-Men from the earlier series. DeMayo was head writer for the first two seasons and Matthew Chauncey took over for the third, with Jake Castorena as supervising director.
"Dark Web" is an American comic book crossover storyline written by Zeb Wells with art by Adam Kubert and Ed McGuinness, published in 2022 by Marvel Comics. The story, which serving as a spiritual successor to "Inferno", involves Spider-Man and the X-Men joining forces against Ben Reilly and Madelyne Pryor as the two wronged clones are teaming up as Chasm and Goblin Queen to raise hell across the Marvel Universe.
"Fall of X" is a 2023 relaunch of the X-Men line of American comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is the sequel to the "Destiny of X" publishing initiative, and is the final initiative in the Krakoan Age of the X-Men. The phase started with the third annual Hellfire Gala and culminated in the dual interconnected miniseries Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X. The phase's final issue, X-Men #35 was released in June 2024. It is followed by line relaunch titled X-Men: From the Ashes.
