XVII Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition

The 17th Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition took place in the Festival Palace of Santander, Spain from July 27 to August 8, 2012. Twenty pianists from ten countries took part in the competition. [1] For the fifth time the First Prize was not awarded; Ahn Ah-ruem won the Second Prize while Tamar Beraia and János Palojtay shared the Third Prize. Beraia was awarded the Audience Prize. [2]

The Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition is a piano competition taking place in Santander, Spain. Founded in 1972 by Paloma O'Shea as a national prize, it turned into an international competition in its 2nd edition, and was professionalized in the mid-70s, being accepted into the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1976.

Antoni Ros-Marbà Spanish musician

Antoni Ros-Marbà is a Spanish conductor from Catalonia. He began his musical education at the Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona. He studied conducting with Eduard Toldrà, Sergiu Celibidache, and Jean Martinon.

Lorenzo Fasolo (1463–1518), called Lorenzo di Pavia, was a Lombard painter living in the early part of the 16th century, who went from Pavia to Genoa, and was one of the artists employed by Lodovico Sforza in 1490 in the decorations of the Porta Giovia Palace at Milan. His chief work is an altar-piece representing The Deposition from the Cross, which he painted in 1508, for the nuns of Santa Chiara, at Chiavari, where it still remains. The Louvre has by him The Family of the Virgin, dated 1513. His son Bernardino Fasolo was also a painter.

Ralf Gothóni Finnish musician

Ralf Georg Nils Gothóni is a Finnish-German pianist and conductor. He is also active as a chamber musician, professor, composer, and author. Born in Rauma, Finland he made his orchestra debut at age 15. Besides his worldwide concert career he has made some 100 recordings with major labels. He often performs in a double role conducting from the keyboard.
