Xhevdet Peci (17 April 1955 - 9 May 2022) was a Yugoslav former heavyweight boxer and coach. With KB Prishtina he was declared champion many times. [1]

Biography

Xhevdet Peci was born on 17 April 1955 in the village Zhazhë (back then part of the Mitrovica municipality now Zveçan municipality). He finished the primary school in Mitrovica. He started boxing at the age of 16 for KB Akumulatori from Mitrovica. He then moved to KB Prishtina in 1973–1974. He won five titles there. He won four times the Yugoslavian championship in heavyweight and two times the Balkan championship. Xhevdet Peci ended his career in 1986 after a fight in Podgorica where he beat the Serbian referee after a questionable decision. [1] [2]

He died in 2022 in the United States. [3]

The Bujan Conference was a political assembly held between December 31st, 1943 and January 2nd, 1944 in Bujan, a village in the Highlands of Gjakova. It was attended by 49 delegates from the Communist Party of Albania and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. The organization of the conference was fueled by the main political goal among Kosovo Albanians in that era which was self-determination and reunification of Kosovo with Albania. The main resolution voted in Bujan called for the unification of the Socialist Republic of Albania and Kosovo after the end of WWII. The resolution of Bujan was abandoned after German retreat from the Balkans. Kosovo remained part of Yugoslavia, as an autonomous region of SR Serbia. The first uprising against the new Yugoslav regime began in late 1944, a few weeks after Yugoslav leadership made it clear that the unification of Kosovo with Albania would not occur after the war.

Ferit Zekolli is a Kosovan former professional basketball player who played as a center. He is considered to be one of the best Albanian basketball players. Since 2021, he is the vice-president of Prishtina.

Ukshin Nuhë Peci, known as Ukshin Kovaçica, was an Albanian nationalist and Balli Kombëtar commander in Kosovo during World War II. He was one of the most notable fighters in the region Shala e Bajgorës.
