Benin, officially the Republic of Benin and formerly known as Dahomey, is a country in West Africa. It has no historical relation to the modern republic of Benin, which was historically known as Dahomey from the 17th century until 1975. The Kingdom of Benin's capital was Edo, now known as Benin City in Edo state, Nigeria. The Benin Kingdom was "one of the oldest and most developed states in the coastal hinterland of West Africa". Benin competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, United Kingdom from August 29 to September 9, 2012. The athlete delegation consisted of one athlete, Constant Kponhinto, who competed in the men's Shot Put F57-58 event, finishing 17th overall with a best throw of 8.25 meters.

The Benin Basketball Super League is the highest level basketball league in Benin. The competition is organised annually by the Fédération Beninoise de Basket-ball.
