Yang Yan is a Chinese paralympic powerlifter. [1] She participated at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in the powerlifting competition, being awarded the bronze medal in the women's 52 kg event. [2] [3] Yan also participated at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the powerlifting competition, being awarded the silver medal in the women's 60 kg event. [4] She participated at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the powerlifting competition, being awarded the bronze medal in the women's 61 kg event. [5] [6] [7] [8]

The Central African Republic made its Paralympic Games debut by sending a delegation to compete at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece, having made its Olympic debut in 1968. It was held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and ran from 5 to 11 April. The event was held in the Dubai Club for the Disabled.

Rolland Ezuruike is a Nigerian powerlifter. He competed in the men's 72 kg event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a silver medal. On 9 September 2016, he set a new paralympics record in the men's – 54kg category after lifting 200kg at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also competed in the men's – 54kg category at the 2015 African Games, where he also won gold. Ezuruike improved his previous Commonwealth performance by winning gold in the men's lightweight powerlifting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Nigeria competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. Nigeria's delegation of 23 sportspeople was mostly composed of powerlifters, with the country sending 14 lifters to Rio. Ahead of the Rio Games, the National Sports Commission promised Paralympic medals to erase the country's Olympic shame.

Fatma Omar is an Egyptian powerlifter competing in the -56 kg category. She is a dominant power in her sport, winning gold in her event in four Summer Paralympics, and another four gold medals at the IPC Powerlifting World Championships.

Tan Yujiao is a Chinese powerlifter. She won the gold medal at the Women's 67 kg event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, with 135 kilograms.

Tharwat Alhajaj is an Olympic weightlifting champion from Jordan. She represented Jordan in the 2016 Summer Paralympics held in Rio de Janeiro and won a Powerlifting silver. The 43-year-old lifted 119 kg in the women's 86 kg category to take silver behind Egypt's Randa Mahmoud who lifted 130 kg for gold. Bronze went to Mexico's Catalina Diaz Vilchis who managed 117 kg.

Ivory Nwokorie MON is a Nigerian powerlifter who won the gold medal in the women's 44 kg weight class at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, England. She was banned for two years in 2013, after testing positive for Furosemide.

Mohamed Ahmed is an Egyptian paralympic powerlifter. He competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the powerlifting competition, winning the silver medal in the men's 107 kg event.
