Yankiel Rivera Figueroa (born September 10, 1997) is a Puerto Rican flyweight boxer. He is the only boxer in his country who qualified to participate in the 2020 Summer Olympics. [1]
Rivera won bronze at the Pan American Youth Championships in Quito in 2014. [2] He lost to Leandro Blanc in the quarter-finals of the 2016 continental Olympic qualification in Buenos Aires [3] and competed at the 2017 World Boxing Championships in Hamburg, where he lost to the eventual runner-up Jasurbek Latipov in the preliminary round. [4] At the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla [5] and also at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, he won a bronze medal in the flyweight division. [6]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American-continental Olympic qualification tournament in Buenos Aires planned for May 2021 was canceled and a qualification based on the continental ranking was decided instead, which secured Rivera a starting place as number 3 in the ranking. [7]

Guillermo Javier Saputo is a light middleweight boxer from Argentina, who represented his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. He also represented Argentina at the 1995 Pan American Games and 1999 Pan American Games. Nicknamed "El Tano" and/or "El Caballero" he made his professional debut in 2001.
Ian Clyde is a retired boxer from Canada, who represented his native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics. After defeating Charlie Magri of Great Britain, he was defeated in the quarterfinals of the men's flyweight division by Cuba's eventual silver medalist Ramón Duvalón. Clyde won a silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 1979 Pan American Games. He also competed at the 1975 Pan American Games. Keith Tapia is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. He was born in Bronx, New York, where he lived his childhood as part of the large Nuyorican community; he began boxing there and represented the United States for few international tournaments, in the process winning bronze at the 2006 Cadet World Championships. In 2007, Tapia appealed to his Puerto Rican heritage and ethnicity and changed his Olympic nationality, representing Puerto Rico until his amateur retirement in 2011. Under the Puerto Rican flag, he won gold at the 2007 AIBA Cadet World Championships and other international tournaments, while winning the heavyweight national championship locally. On November 18, 2011, Tapia made his professional debut, now boxing out of Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
