Yanna Schneider (born 18 April 1996) is a German taekwondo athlete.

Career

Schneider started practising the Korean martial arts taekwondo at the age of seven and has been part of the German national team since 2010. [2]

In 2011, Schneider claimed a silver medal at the European Junior Championships in Paphos in the 59 kg weight class, and in 2012 she became world champion in the weight class up to 63 kg at the World Junior Championships in Sharm El Sheikh. [3] In 2013, she won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships held in Porto. [4] She won another European bronze medal at the European U21 Championships in Bucharest in 2015. [5]

During her active career, Schneider has won 43 bronze medals, 22 silver medals and nine gold medals at international tournaments. She has been German champion eight times, runner-up five and bronze medallist twice. [6] [5]

At the 2024 European Championships in Belgrade, Schneider won the quarter-finals against russian athlete Polina Khan, lost to Sude Yaren Uzunçavdar from Turkey in the semi-finals and thus won a bronze medal in the 73 kg competition. [7] [8] [9]

Education

Schneider completed a Bachelor's degree and subsequently a Master's degree in Business Psychology at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. [10] [11]

Edina Müller is a German 2.5 point wheelchair basketball player and KL1 canoeist. She played for ASV Bonn in the German wheelchair basketball league, and for the national team. As part of the German women's national wheelchair basketball team, she won bronze at the 2006 World Cup in Amsterdam, won three time European champions, a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, and a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. The team was voted 2008 Team of the Year in disabled sports, and Horst Köhler presented it with Germany's highest sports award, the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt. President Joachim Gauck awarded the team a second Silver Leaf after it won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Müller was also a two-time U.S. champion (2006-2008) with her college team Illinois Fighting Illini at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and helped ASV Bonn win the European Cup in Valladolid, Spain in 2009. From 2011 to 2014 she played for Hamburger SV.

Stéphanie Mary Groß is a retired amateur German freestyle wrestler, who competed in the women's middleweight category. Gross has claimed four medals at the World Championships, and seized an opportunity to compete for Germany at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Before her sporting career ended in 2008, Gross trained full-time as a member of the wrestling squad for AC Ückerath in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, under her father and personal coach Walter Groß.

He captured a bronze medal in the 72-kg division at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and attained top seven finishes in two editions of the Olympic Games, representing his naturalized nation Austria. Caliskan is also a full-fledged member of Baden Taekwondo Club and Austrian taekwondo squad, under head coach and master Mustafa Atalar.

Nevena Lukic is an Austrian taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's flyweight category. She picked up a total of eight medals in her career, including a gold from the 2004 European Championships in Lillehammer, Norway, and a bronze from the 2005 World Taekwondo Championships in Madrid, Spain, and represented her nation Austria at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
