The Yellow Line of the Ahmedabad Metro is a metro route of the mass rapid transit system in Ahmedabad, India.

History

The Government of Gujarat approved the Phase-2 of Ahmedabad Metro in October 2017 and revised it in October 2018. In February 2019, the Union cabinet approved the Phase-2 worth cost of 5,384.17 crore (US$650 million). It will extend the north–south corridor from Motera in Ahmedabad to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar (23.838 km (14.812 mi)) with a branch line from Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) linking Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) and GIFT City (5.416 km). The Phase-2 will have total 28.26 km (17.56 mi)-long elevated corridor with 22 stations. [1] [2] [3]

The tendering for the Phase 2 began in January 2020. [4] [5] On 18 January 2021, the foundation stone of the Phase-2 was laid by Prime Minister Modi. [6]

In February 2023, Titagarh Rail Systems won a contract worth 350 crore (US$42 million) for providing rolling stock for the Phase-2. [7] [8]

The trial run of Phase-2 started in February 2024 between GNLU and Dholakuva Circle stations. [9] [10] The Yellow connecting Sector 1 station of Gandhinagar with the Red Lines's Motera Stadium along with six new stations on Yellow Line were inaugurated on 16 September 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was open to the public on 17 September 2024. The Yellow Line of Namma Metro is almost complete and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 18.82 km (11.69 mi) line connects R.V. Road with Bommasandra, and is fully elevated with 16 stations. R.V. Road station is the terminal station on the city side where an interchange is being provided with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital station will serve as another elevated interchange station with the Pink Line that is also under construction in Phase 2 of Namma Metro's expansion. Upon its opening, the Jayadeva Station will be the tallest and largest metro station in Bengaluru, with five levels of transport, including the metro lines. Central Silk Board station will be another interchange station between the Yellow Line and Blue Line. The other end of the Yellow Line will terminate at Bommasandra. The line was scheduled to open in June 2023, but due to construction delays the new date was estimated to be July 2024. As per the latest reports, the Yellow Line is slated to be operational between 2nd and 4th week of January 2025. This postponement has been attributed to a delay in the delivery of coaches from China.

The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019 and it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores. It is expected to be completed by October 2025.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave is an under-construction sports enclave being built in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Once the sports enclave is fully built, it will be one of the largest of its kind in India. The project is being jointly executed with the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority, and the Government of Gujarat. A primary reason for the sports enclave to be built, is so that major sporting events, such as the Summer Olympic Games, could be hosted in India in the future.
