Yogeshwar Jha (Maithili: युगेश्वर झा) was a former state education minister in the Jagarnath Mishra's cabinet of Bihar Government . [1] [2] [3]

Early life

Yogeshwar Jha born in Basuki Bihari North village of Madhubani district in the Mithila region of Bihar. He was born in a middle-class family of Maithil Brahmins.

Academic career

Yogeshwar Jha completed his post graduation (Master of Science) education from Langat Singh College, Muzaffarpur. He was specialised in the subject of physics. He started his academic career as a professor of physics department in the same college. It is said that he was an eminent educationist. [2] [4] Later he also served as secretary of Ram Niranjan Janta College at Madhwapur in the Madhubani district. [5]

Political career

It is said that Yogeshwar Jha came into political limelight during 1981-1982 from an movement originated in Chanpura village of Benipatti subdivision in Madhubani district for construction of a ring dam around the village. [6] He was elected as MLA of Benipatti assembly constituency four times. He became the state minister of education during 1990 in cabinet of Jagarnath Mishra's government in Bihar. [4]

Mithila State Movement is a movement advocating a separate Mithila state in India. This movement gained momentum in 1902 AD when Sir George Grierson, an official of the British Indian government, prepared a map of Mithila state by conducting a language-based survey. In 1881 AD, the word Mithila was added to the dictionary of the British India government. Bisfi Vidyapati Dih is the birthplace of Maithili poet Vidyapati in Mithila. It is located at Bisfi village of Madhubani district in Bihar. It was also an educational centre of the Ancient Mithila University. Vidyapati used to teach his students here. According to legend, Lord Shiva had incarnated here as Ugna, in the form of a poor servant at the courtyard of his great devotee Vidyapati.

It is around five kilometres distance by road from Kamtaul railway station of the East Central Railway. The village is divided into two Gram Panchyats, they are Jagban East and Jagban West.

Baneshwar Sthan is an ancient place believed to be related to the epic Mahabharata in the Mithila region of Bihar in India. It is located at Barri village of the Benipatti block in the Madhubani district of Bihar. There is a temple of Lord Shiva known as Baneshwar Nath Mahadev Mandir.
