Prince Tokugawa Yoshinobu was the 15th and last shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan. He was part of a movement which aimed to reform the aging shogunate, but was ultimately unsuccessful. He resigned his position as shogun in late 1867, while aiming at keeping some political influence. After these efforts failed following the defeat at the Battle of Toba–Fushimi in early 1868, he went into retirement, and largely avoided the public eye for the rest of his life.
Yasuhiro Suzuki, better known by the ring name Kotaro Suzuki, is a Japanese professional wrestler currently signed to Gleat. Yoshinobu Oyakawa is an American former competition swimmer, 1952 Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in the 100-meter backstroke. He was the first Hawaiian islander to win an Olympic medal, and is considered to be the last of the great "straight-arm-pull" backstrokers. He still holds the world record in this technique.
Hiromi Miyake, born 18 November 1985) is a Japanese retired weightlifter. In the 48kg category, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and won bronze at the 2016 Olympics. Her father and coach is Yoshiyuki Miyake, who was a bronze medallist in weightlifting at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Her uncle Yoshinobu Miyake was a gold medalist in weightlifting at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics.

Yoshinobu Miyake is a retired Japanese weightlifter and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Lieutenant. Between 1959 and 1969 Miyake set 25 official world records, including 10 consecutive records in the snatch and nine consecutive records in the total. In 1993 he was inducted into the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame.

He previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Orix Buffaloes. Yamamoto is a three-time Pacific League Most Valuable Player, Eiji Sawamura Award, and a three-time Triple Crown winner. Yamamoto is the first player in the history of professional baseball to win the Triple Crown in three consecutive years. Following the 2023 NPB season, Yamamoto signed a 12-year, $325 million contract with the Dodgers.

The women's big air competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 14 February (qualification) and 15 February (final), at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing. Anna Gasser of Austria won the event, successfully defending her 2018 title. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott of New Zealand won the silver medal, and Kokomo Murase of Japan bronze, her first Olympic medal.
Kokomo Murase is a Japanese snowboarder who competes in the slopestyle and big air events. She competed in the women's slopestyle event at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She also won the overall title in the slopestyle and freestyle at the 2021–22 FIS Snowboard World Cup.
