Yuri Collins (born March 7, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Saint Louis Billikens of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10).

Contents

High school career

Collins attended St. Mary's High School. As a senior, he averaged 22.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game. Collins led St. Mary's to the Class 4 state championship game, averaging over 30 points per game during the team's postseason run. [1] He committed to play college basketball at Saint Louis over offers from DePaul, Iowa, Missouri, Missouri State and SMU. [2]

College career

As a freshman, he averaged 5.4 points and 5.5 assists per game, leading all freshmen in assists. [3] Collins averaged 5.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game as a sophomore. [4] He took on a leadership role for the Billikens as a junior due to an ACL tear suffered by Javonte Perkins. [5] Collins was named to the First Team All-Atlantic 10 as well as the All-Defensive Team. [6] He averaged 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game, leading NCAA Division I in assists. Following the season, he entered the 2022 NBA draft and the transfer portal. [2] Collins ultimately withdrew from the draft and returned to Saint Louis. [7] On November 30, 2022, he recorded 20 assists in a win over Tennessee State, setting a school record and tying for the fourth-most in a single game in Division I history. [8]

Professional career

After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft, Collins joined the Golden State Warriors for the 2023 NBA Summer League [9] and on October 16, he signed with them. [10] However, he was waived two days later [11] and on October 30, he joined the Santa Cruz Warriors. [12]

Personal life

Collins has polydactyly, meaning he was born with an extra finger on his right hand though he had it removed. Yuri has 5 siblings,two sisters and three brothers and is the older brother of Zyree Collins. [13]

The Saint Louis Billikens men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Saint Louis University. They compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The head coaching position is currently held by Travis Ford. Chaifetz Arena is home to the Billikens. The Billikens have reached the championship game of the NIT tournament four times and have won it once (1948). They have appeared in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament ten times, most recently in 2019.

Jerry Koch is a retired American basketball player. He is known for his collegiate career at Saint Louis University (SLU) between 1951–52 and 1954–55. A forward, Koch once recorded 38 rebounds in a single game. He accomplished the feat on March 5, 1954 against Bradley University. The 38 rebounds remain a SLU and Missouri Valley Conference record. Koch was also instrumental in SLU's 1952 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance; during his freshman season he teamed with his older brother and the team's center, Bob, as a dominant frontcourt duo.

He played college basketball for the Saint Louis Billikens between 1998 and 2001 before having a two-year playing career in the Netherlands with Aris Leeuwarden between 2003 and 2005. Between 2007 and 2023, he had a 16-year high school coaching career in Missouri, winning three state championships. He moved to Australia in 2023 where he became interim head coach of the Illawarra Hawks.
