Z. G. Muhammad is an Indian writer.
Zahid G. Muhammad was born in Nowhatta in the Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir, India into a Kashmiri Muslim family. After graduating from Islamia High School, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in English literature from the Islamia College of Science and Commerce of Kashmir University, followed by a course in mass communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Jammu. Currently, he is an editor of Peace Watch Kashmir, [1] a journal dedicated to peace in South Asia, and a regular columnist for Greater Kashmir , Srinagar.
The author has contributed articles on politics literature, culture, and history in various newspapers like; The Statesman, the Onlooker, Bombay, the Sunday Calcutta, The Free Press Journal , Kashmir Times , Journal of Peace Studies, New Delhi, The News, The Post, The Pakistan Observer , The Washington Post , [2] Tehran Times, [3] The Arab News, [4] and the Urdu Times.
During 1982–1990, he wrote a weekly column for the Press Asia International, New Delhi, and reviewed books on Kashmir history, literature and politics.
Zahid worked as executive editor, for Kashmir Observer between 1997 and 2004.
He contributed a permanent column Punchline on politics, culture and literature for the Greater Kashmir between 1988 and 1995. Also, he also wrote a permanent column, The Media-line on print and electronic media in the Greater Kashmir . Then later in March 2006, he resumed writing a weekly political column Punchline in the Greater Kashmir .
Zahid G Muhammad has participated and chaired many international conferences on Kashmir in London, Washington, D.C., [5] and Montevideo, which were regarding the resolution of the Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan.
Muhammad wrote many short stories in Kashmiri and English. He also produced and wrote documentaries for Doordarshan Kashir.

Gujari is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by most of the Gujjars in the northern parts of India and Pakistan as well as in Afghanistan. It is a member of the Rajasthani group of languages.
In 1989, Rubaiya Sayeed, the daughter of the then Indian Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was kidnapped by Kashmiri separatist militants in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The kidnappers demanded the release of five jailed members of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in exchange for Sayeed's release. The Indian government headed by V. P. Singh of the Janata Dal party, with outside support from the BJP, agreed to the demands and induced the state government to release the jailed militants. In 2004, the JKLF admitted to having carried out the kidnapping, and the court case is ongoing. In July 2022, Rubaiya identified Yasin Malik, one of the key leaders of JKLF at that time, as one of her kidnappers.
Ghulam Nabi Sheikh was a Kashmiri musician. He is credited with reviving Kashmiri music after Kashmiri Pandits left Kashmir during the political conflict in 1990. He was killed by the Punjab Police in 2003.
Mehrajuddin Wadoo is an Indian professional manager and former footballer. He was recent head coach of I-League club Mohammedan Sporting. During his playing days, Wadoo played for clubs such as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Salgaocar, Pune City, Chennaiyin, and Mumbai City. He also represented the India national team from 2005 to 2011.
Mughal Road is the road between Bufliaz, a town in the Poonch district, to the Shopian district, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The 84-kilometre road traces a historic route used in the Mughal period over the Pir Panjal Pass, at an altitude of 3,500 m (11,500 ft), higher than the Banihal pass at 2,832 m (9,291 ft).
Fida Muhammad Hassnain was a Kashmiri writer, lecturer and Sufi mystic. He was born in 1924 in Srinagar, Kashmir, as the child of schoolteachers. His father fought with the British Indian forces in the Boer War in South Africa in 1902. Fida Hassnain graduated from the University of Punjab and the Aligarh Muslim University, and became a barrister, but the events surrounding the partition of colonial British India made him lose faith in the law, and after a short period of social work he became a lecturer in 1947 at the Sri Patrap (SP) College in Srinagar. In 1954, he became Director of the Kashmir State Archives, retiring in 1983. Fida Hassnain on died 9 July 2016 in Srinagar, Kashmir.
Mohammad Ishaq Khan was a historian of Kashmir. He was Dean Academics, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of History at Kashmir University. After his superannuation in 2005, he became the Director of the newly founded Centre for Kashmir Studies and later held the Shaikhul Alam Chair at Kashmir University until August 2008.

Farooq Nazki is a poet, broadcaster and media personality from the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He also served as Director Doordarshan & AIR Srinagar from 1986 to 1997 under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (India). Besides media head and writing career, Nazki has also served as Editor "Daily Mazdoor" from 1960 a newspaper highlighting the problems labours class. This newspaper for the first time made conscious efforts to highlight the importance of labour in the valley. In 2000 he retired as its Deputy Director General. He was media advisor to two Chief Ministers: Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah (2010).
In September 2014, the Kashmir region suffered disastrous floods across many of its districts caused by torrential rainfall. The Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the Pakistani territories of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the province of Punjab were affected by these floods. By 24 September 2014, nearly 277 people in India and about 280 people in Pakistan had died due to the floods.
Zakura, also known as Zukura and Zukur, is a notified area and town in the Srinagar district of the Kashmir Valley, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The town is the integral part of Hazratbal constituency. The area is located about 12 km from commercial center of the Kashmir Valley. The area provides at least two major road links which connects municipal committee of Ganderbal with Srinagar.

Sir Syed Sani Syed Ali Shah Bukhari commonly known as Ali Shah, Sir Syed Sani, Molvi Saeeb, Sir Syed Kashmir, Chirag-i-Beerwah, or Musleh-Millat, was a 20th-century Kashmiri Muslim pragmatist, Islamic modernist, philosopher, Islamic jurist, social activist and educator in the tehsil Beerwah of the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the khateeb, Imam and Mirwaiz of the Grand Jamia Masjid Beerwah.
Government College for Women,M.A. Road, Srinagar commonly known as Women's College Srinagar is located on 8.5 acre campus in summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar near Lal Chowk opposite SP College. Nund Rishi, also known as Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, Sheikh-Ul-Alam and by the title Alamdar-e-Kashmir, was a Kashmiri Sufi saint, mystic, poet and Islamic preacher. Nund Rishi was among the founders of the Rishi order, a Sufi tradition of the region. He influenced many spiritual teachers and saints, including Hamza Makhdoom, Resh Mir Sàeb, and Shamas Faqir.

DD Kashir is state television broadcaster. Major private channels are News18 Urdu and Gulistan News.
Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki, also spelled Meer Ghulam Rasul Naazki, was a Kashmiri poet, writer, broadcaster, and teacher. He wrote books, including poetry in regional and foreign languages such as Urdu, Persian, Arabic and later work in Kashmiri language. The receipent of Sahitya Akademi Award for Awaz-e-dost, a Kashmiri poetry, he is also credited as the "first Kashmiri writer" to write in Ruplic of India after independence, and the first poet to resuscitate quatrain poetic form in Kashmiri literature, which originally began during the period of thirteen and fourteenth century poets such as Lal Ded and Nund Reshi.
