Zach Boren (born May 13, 1991) is a former American football fullback. He played college football for Ohio State. Boren originally played fullback, but was converted to linebacker midway through his senior season.
Boren was born in Pickerington, Ohio, and is Jewish. [1] He attended Pickerington High School Central in Pickerington where he played football and baseball. As a baseball player, Boren was ranked number two in the state of Ohio, but chose to attend Ohio State to play football joining his brother Justin, who had recently transferred to the Buckeyes from arch-rival Michigan. [2] As a football player, he achieved all-state accolades. [3]
In his first three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Boren started 27 games at fullback. He began the 2012 season there, but prior to Ohio State's game against the Indiana Hoosiers, Boren was moved to linebacker by the Ohio State coaching staff. [4] He played linebacker for the remainder of the season, amassing 50 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. [5]
The 2012 Ohio State squad, for whom Boren was a captain, would have been eligible for a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Bowl, possibly even the national championship, but due to sanctions levied against them by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) were not bowl-eligible. [6] He was named to the Jewish Sports Review 2012 College Football All-America Team. [7]

On April 27, 2013, he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL draft. [10] He was released on August 27, 2013.
On January 7, 2014, Boren signed a reserves/futures contract with the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers released Boren on August 25, 2014. [11]
On August 7, 2015, Boren was signed by the Tennessee Titans and released injured fullback Connor Neighbors. [12] Boren was later released by the Titans. [13]
Boren was raised in a sports-inclined family. His father Mike played linebacker at Michigan under Bo Schembechler in the 1980s, his mother Hope ran track at Michigan, and his older brother Justin, and younger brother Jacoby are both former Ohio State teammates. [14] [15] He attributes much of his success at Ohio State to the family atmosphere that coach Urban Meyer promotes.

Pickerington High School Central is a public high school in Pickerington, Ohio, United States. It is one of two high schools in the Pickerington Local School District. In the city of Pickerington, it is referred to simply as Central and their mascot is the Tiger. In 2003, "Pickerington High School" split into two high schools, Pickerington High School Central and Pickerington High School North. Construction of Pickerington High School, which currently houses Pickerington High School Central was completed in the fall of 1991. The high schools which previously served the Pickerington community were Pickerington High School and Violet Township High School. Before 1906, there were many schools in the Pickerington/Violet Township area. The Pickerington School (c.1883), a two-story, two-room school was built to replace the original building. Heritage Elementary is now housed in the Pickerington School. The school has sports programs that include football, boys basketball, girls basketball, girls volleyball, boys volleyball, wrestling, boys tennis, girls tennis, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys golf, girls golf, cross country, cheerleading, track and field, baseball, softball, and Marching Band.

Michael L. Boren is a former American football player. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he played college football as a linebacker at the University of Michigan from 1980 to 1983. He was Michigan's leading tackler as a sophomore and junior during the 1981 and 1982 seasons. He suffered a knee injury in the fourth game of the 1983 season that ended his playing career. He still ranks among Michigan's all-time career leaders in tackles.

The 2012 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented Ohio State University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the Buckeye's 123rd season overall, the 100th as a member of the Big Ten Conference and the second as a members of the Big Ten Leaders Division. The team was led by head coach Urban Meyer in his return to coaching after retiring from Florida in 2010 due to health concerns. The Buckeyes played their home games at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes finished the season undefeated with 12 wins, Big Ten Leaders Division champions and ranked third in the AP Poll. Due to findings of an investigation conducted by the NCAA during the previous season, Ohio State was ineligible for both the Big Ten Championship Game and an appearance in a bowl game for the 2012 season.
