Zgorzałe [zɡɔˈʐawɛ] (Kashubian Zgòrzałé, German : Seedorf) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Stężyca, within Kartuzy County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.^[1] It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) north-east of Stężyca, 18 km (11 mi) south-west of Kartuzy, and 45 km (28 mi) west of the regional capital Gdańsk.

Kashubian or Cassubian is a West Slavic lect belonging to the Lechitic subgroup along with Polish and Silesian. Although often classified as a language in its own right, it is sometimes viewed as a dialect of Pomeranian or as a dialect of Polish.

German is a West Germanic language that is mainly spoken in Central Europe. The history of Pomerania starts shortly before 1000 AD with ongoing conquests by newly arrived Polans rulers. Before that the area was recorded nearly 2000 years ago as Germania, and in modern-day times Pomerania is split between Germany and Poland. The name Pomerania comes from the Slavic po more, which means Land at the Sea.

The village has a population of 309.

In Zgorzałe there is the first street in Poland named Lech Wałęsa Street (2009).^[2]

Lech Wałęsa is a Polish retired politician and labour activist. He co-founded and headed Solidarity (Solidarność), the Soviet bloc's first independent trade union, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983, and served as President of Poland from 1990 to 1995.
