Zigong Lantern Group is a lantern arts manufacturing company based in Orlando, Florida, United States. [1] [2] It is operated by Zigong Lantern Group Worldwide. Justin Corsa is the incumbent chief executive officer of the company. [1]

The company has created lantern displays for lantern festivals internationally, including France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. [3]

It is a member of IAAPA, Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), Zoological Association of America (ZAA), and Florida Attractions Association (FAA). [4]

History

It was formed after the merger of companies located in Zigong, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, and the United States. [5]

The company has two subsidiaries: one named Zigong Lantern Group Worldwide which is based in Florida, and another named Zigong Shijieyijia Culture Communication which owns a factory located in China. [5]

In 2019, the company organized Chinese Festival of Lights on 60 acres of land at Nashville Zoo. [6] They also formed a three-year partnership with Magnolia for the festival, Lights of Magnolia. [7]

In 2020, one million lantern lights were used in Luminosa Festival which was held on 13 acres of area. [8] The lanterns used were made with hand-made silk and steel material. [9]

In 2021, the Festival of Illumination: World of Lights! was organized at Southwick's Zoo. [3] Later, in November, Festival of Lanterns at Cowabunga Bay, Las Vegas, was opened. [10] [11] [12] In the same year, they also produced Winter Illuminations at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, the United Kingdom. [13] Additionally, they went under contract with the French government of Ville de Béziers, in France to decorate their main plaza. [14]

In August 2022, the company received Best in Show award from the Florida Attractions Association. [15] In the same month, Zigong was involved in the production of the Land of Lights festival at Gulliver's Resort which was held between November 2022 and February 2023. [16] [17] At the Kansas City Zoo, Zigong organized the GloWild lantern festival, which ran from September 2022 through the end of December 2022. [18]

In November 2022, Zigong received Brass Ring Award given by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. [19]

The company has trademarked their name in Europe and the United Kingdom. [20] [21]

Green Lantern Coaster is a steel roller coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The ride is themed after DC Comics' Green Lantern and is located within the park's DC Comics superhero hub. The ride is an El Loco roller coaster manufactured by S&S Worldwide, characterised by a tight circuit featuring a beyond-vertical drop and an outward banked turn. When it opened in 2011, it held the record for having the second steepest drop in the world among roller coasters, and the steepest drop in the Southern Hemisphere, the latter of which is a record it still holds as of 2020. Green Lantern Coaster officially opened on 23 December 2011.

Polercoaster was a type of amusement ride offered by US Thrill Rides and Intamin. An installation consists of a large tower structure which features glass elevators to an observation deck, as well as a steel roller coaster wrapping around the tower. The model was first introduced in 2012, and in 2013, four were proposed for construction. However, none have been constructed as of 2023.

Built on the former Tanganyika Tidal Wave water ride, Tigris officially opened on April 19, 2019 as the park's ninth roller coaster. Tigris is located within the Stanleyville section of the park. The roller coaster and surrounding area re-uses previous infrastructure and landscaping of the former attraction.
