Ziroatkhon Mahmudovna Hoshimova (Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva [lower-alpha 1] ;born 4 December 1964) is the wife of the president of Uzbekistan and first lady of Uzbekistan (since 2016).
Ziroatkhon Hoshimova was born in the Uzbek city of Kokand into an influential and religious family. Her father was head of the Central Asian railway's supply department,which managed the 'Dorrestoran' catering and dining cars. Due to his access to deficit goods,Makhmudjon Khoshimov was a very influential and wealthy man in the Ferghana Valley. According to some reports,he owned 10 refrigerator wagons that were used to ship fruit and vegetables from the Uzbek SSR to other Soviet Union republics and to bring back manufactured goods. [1]
Hoshimova enrolled at TIIAME,where she met Shavkat Mirziyoyev,an employee of the university and its Komsomol secretary. Her family initially opposed their relationship,but eventually approved the marriage. [1] When she was still a student,Khoshimova had a daughter,Saida. [2] Khoshimova graduated in 1986 with a degree in economics engineering. She speaks Uzbek,Russian and English. [3]
Her husband Shavkat Mirziyoyev became a deputy of the 12th convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR in 1990,then he was a khokim of one of the districts of Tashkent,a member of two convocations of the Oliy Majlis,the 3rd khokim of Jizzakh Region,the 4th khokim of Samarkand Region. After that,he was appointed Prime Minister of Uzbekistan in 2003 and retained this position until 2016. [4]
During presidency of Islam Karimov,Hoshimova,as well as all her family members,lived a private life and did not participate in official events for fear of possible persecution by the president. The first mention of Ziroathon Khoshimova appeared in Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official biography only in November 2016,when he became a presidential candidate after Karimov's death. [1]
Later,as the wife of the president,she began to appear regularly in public and accompany Shavkat Mirziyoyev on international visits. [5] According to Radio Ozodlik,Hoshimova influences appointments in the Uzbek government,with her power is particularly strong in the Ministry of Health and the pharmaceutical sector. [5]
Ziroathon Hoshimova is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the 'Zamin' International Public Foundation,established in 2020. The foundation leads chariy projects as well as health care,education and inclusive environment initiatives in Uzbekistan. The first project of the foundation was the provision of material assistance to 5 thousand women in the amount of 5 billion sums. [3] [6]
Ziroathon Khoshimova has three children and six grandchildren. [7] Her daughter Saida Mirziyoyeva (born 1984) has been Assistant to the President since August 2023 and thus holds the second most important post in Uzbekistan;her second daughter Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva is First Deputy Director of the National Social Security Agency. Hoshimova's sons-in-law Oybek Tursunov and Otabek Umarov are major businessmen who became rich after being related to the Mirziyoyev family. [5]
Ziroatkhon Hoshimova has a sister Saiyora Hoshimova and a brother Muhammad Hoshimov,who became co-owner of a number of large industrial enterprises during the reign of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. [9] Saiyora's daughter Diora (Diyora) was married to the nephew of billionaire Alisher Usmanov,Babur Usmanov. A few years after his death in a road accident in 2013,Diora married Batyr Rakhimov ,one of the richest men in Uzbekistan. [10]
Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev is an Uzbek politician who has served as President of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan since 14 December 2016. Previously, Mirziyoyev led the government as a Prime Minister of Uzbekistan from 2003 to 2016.

The People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan is a political party in Uzbekistan. It was founded in 1991 as the legal successor of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. After Karimov resigned from the party in 1996 and later formed the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, it lost its ruling party status.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev's tenure as the 2nd President of Uzbekistan began with his inauguration 14 December 2016, after serving as prime minister (2003–16) and acting president following the death of his predecessor, Islam Karimov. In accordance with the Constitution of Uzbekistan, his mandate will last until 2026, following his re-election in 2021.
Presidential elections were held in Uzbekistan on 24 October 2021. This was the sixth presidential election held since independence. Incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev won a second term with a majority 80.1% of the vote, although faring the lowest performance for an incumbent in terms of vote share since 1991. Maqsuda Vorisova from the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (XDP) was the runner-up and Alisher Qodirov from the Uzbekistan National Revival Democratic Party came third, which marked the first time that more than two candidates had officially received more than 5% of the vote.
Major General Pavel Ismailovich Ergashev is an Uzbek military leader who is a Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. He was appointed to this position on 11 January 2018 and was dismissed in March 2021. He is the son of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Ismail Ergashev. He was among 12 high-ranking officials were banned from entering the European Union for a year in November 2005 for their role in putting down the 2005 Andijan unrest. At the time, he was a Colonel who commanded of a detachment of from the Ministry of Defense. On 4 September 2017, he was appointed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the post of Acting Deputy Minister of Defense and commander of the troops of the Southwestern Special Military District.
Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva is an Uzbek politician and the eldest daughter of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In August 2023, Mirziyoyeva was appointed the first assistant to the president of the country and took over the highest position in the president's administration after the head of state.
