The Guam Track and Field Association (GTFA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Guam. [1]
The history of running in Guam is well described. [2] The participation of athletes from Guam at the 1966 South Pacific Games is documented. [3]
The foundation of GTFA is reported for 1976, aa well as its affiliation to the IAAF in the year 1986. [4]
Between 2001-2004, former marathon runner Fred Schumann served as president. [5] In 2005, Franklin Tangalin was elected president. [6] Jay Antonio served as president from May 2009 - December 2014.
Current president is Derek Mandell. He was elected in April 2017 for the period 2017-2021. [7]

GTFA was suspended by the GNOC in November 2013, [8] [9] but was reinstated as an associate member in June 2018.
GTFA maintains the Guamanian records in athletics.
Athletics New Zealand (ANZ) is the national governing body for athletics in New Zealand. This includes responsibility for Track and field, cross country running, road running and racewalking.
Charles Alan Pownall was a Vice admiral in the United States Navy and Governor of Guam. He was the third military Governor and first naval Governor of Guam following the United States recapture of the island from the Japanese. After conflict with the Guam Congress in 1948, Pownall replaced many Congressmen with his own appointments, whom the Guamanians refused to recognize. The ensuing protest persuaded President Truman to transfer control of the island away from the Navy. As a consequence, Charles Pownall was the last military governor of Guam.
The Oceania Area Championships in Athletics is an athletics event run by the Oceania Athletics Association and is held every year. In 1990 the Oceania Athletic Championships started as an area championships for the IAAF member countries of Oceania. Initially conceived as a quadrennial event, the championships change to a biennial format in 1996. The event had junior events until a merger with the Oceania Youth Championships occurred in 2000. Both senior and youth events are now held at the championships in a unified competition. Athletics New Zealand and Athletics Australia generally send weakened teams due to the small size of the other competing nations.
Joseph F. Flores was the fourth civilian appointed Governor of Guam, and was the first Chamorro to hold the office. He also founded the island's first locally owned newspaper, the Guam Daily News, which was the only local newspaper until 1966. He enjoyed success running many publications before being appointed Governor by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1960. As Governor, Flores pushed for increased self-governance in Guam, resigning in 1961. After his Governorship, Flores founded other businesses and became involved in numerous community organizations. He was a Knight of St. Sylvester.
The Secretary of Guam was the equivalent of the Lieutenant Governor of Guam when the Governorship was still appointed by the President of the United States. The office became the Lieutenant Governor of Guam when island residents began electing the position, along with the Governor, rather than having them appointed.
The Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Bermuda. Current president is Donna Raynor. She was elected for the first time in 2009.

The Palau Track and Field Association (PTFA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Palau.

The 2007 Micronesian Championships in Athletics took place between December 14–15, 2007. The event was held at the Leo Palace Resort in Mannengon Hills, Yona, Guam. Detailed reports were given for the OAA.
