Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) is an Sanskrit university founded on 18 September 1997 and is named after the poet Kalidas.
Established on 18 September 1997 in Ramtek, Maharashtra, India, the university name pays tribute to the poet Kalidas. The former Prime Minister of India, P.V. Narasimha Rao, wished for an independent Sanskrit university in Maharashtra. Sudhakarraoji Naik, the then-Chief Minister of Maharashtra, appointed Dr. Shrinkant Jichkar to establish a university. [1]
KKSU provides course work towards a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and a Ph.D. degree. KKSU focuses on a modern approach to the Sanskrit language and traditional learnings like Veda, Vedanta, Vyakarana, Nyaya, Mimamsa, Dharmashastra, and Sahitya. [1]

Kalidas is a 1931 Indian biographical film directed by H. M. Reddy and produced by Ardeshir Irani. Srinivas Rath was an eminent Sanskrit poet born in Puri, Odisha. He lived at Ujjain, India and was instrumental in the sustenance of the Kalidas Akademi, a center of arts and literature in Western India. Rath Sahib, as he was called by many, had written a collection of poems entitled "tad eva gaganam saiva dhara," published by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in the 1990s, which won a Sahitya Akademi Award for 1999, and completed a mahakavya entitled Baladevacarita.
